Does anyone have experience renting directly from an owner at Windsor Hills? They have a website that you get quotes from the owners but my husband is nervous about it.

Any experiences out there?

Thanks in advance!

Pure and simple, thousands and thousands rent from owners every year and love it...
lower cost, easy to deal with, and you get what you see. WHills is one of the premier developements in the area and I would trust owners there without hesitation...

Good Luck..Ted

We did it last year. We used paypal and it helped that they had their own professional website, but they only had two properties. Everything was just as they said it would be and we enjoyed it very much. I did have a few twinges thinking about whether the house would actually be there, but I guess that is the risk given that these are beautiful houses for very affordable prices! Only real problem we had was really, really bad noise coming from the house behind us at all hours and NO ONE, police or security would do anything about it!

We've been doing it for years. There's been lots written on here about renting from owners. Just do a search about it. There's a few things you can do to protect yourself but so far we haven't had any problems.

Just returned from Windsor Hills where we rented directly from the owners and it was great. Used PayPal for the deposit and sent a personal check to them 60 days prior to arrival on the balance and everything worked out just fine. When researching, it looked like many of the properties would be rented directly from an owner. I think things will work out just fine.

I'm confused. How do you rent direct from the owner? I am currently checking availability and prices for our trip in November. I went to the Windsor Hills website, typed in my dates, and heard back from a handful of owners. I've even corresponded further with them as I had a few questions. Does that mean I am renting direct from them? I didn't know there was any other way to inquire on renting a home other than going to the WH website:confused3

Thanks to anyone that can clear this up!

Yes, when you use the windsorhillsrent website you are renting directly from the owners.
There are many websites on which owners list their homes. This is the VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner) website for Kissimmee:
http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/central-disney-orlando/kissimmee
There's lots of subdivisions listed on here.
Here's a map to show where they are located. http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map.php

There's also www.homeaway.com This is the Kissimmee listings page:
http://www.homeaway.com/Orlando-Disney-vacation-rentals/Kissimmee-vacation-rentals.htm

They also have a guarantee against fraud. Check out this website and if you look across the top of the page you'll see a number of other sites that fall under the HomeAway company: http://guarantee.homeaway.com/
They all have listings for WH and many other subdivisions.
There's also ownerdirect.com , fabvillas.com etc.

Good luck! :)

I absolutely agree with all of the above!

For the same price as a hotel you get a whole house and in most cases a private pool/spa and seperate bedrooms. You even get a kitchen so you can easily get snacks in.

You will love it and never go back to hotels!

PS Shannon, most owners have their own website so you can contact them directly OR through websites such as the Windsor Hills one. Whichever way you book the reservation is direct with the owner. They provide you with directions to get to the villa and most often a code to type into a box on the front of the house - so you can get the key out, hence it really does not matter if you arrive very late at night you can go straight there and let yourself in!

The sites like windshorhillsrent.com and windsorhillsbest.com put you in direct contact with the owner of the unit. We found the condo that we are renting through windsorhillsrents.

Then there are management companies and other agencies (such as Florida Sun Vacation Homes) that also have sites out there that you can rent through. These companies may be acting as the representative for the unit owner or may even own some units that they rent out. A big con when renting through an agency, IMHO, is that you lose out on the ability to talk with the owner and possibly get a lower rate. Also, with some agencies you may not even know what unit you are getting until you get there.
