Rent a stoller?

We have been to Disney a fair amount and always rented a stroller.

We are getting ready to go again and my 3½ year old will need a stroller and we are trying to decide if we want to rent or if we should just buy a nice stroller and bring it with us.

We are just trying to figure out if there are any negatives to bringing your own stroller. We've always liked renting but my husband is a little hesitant to put $200 out on the rental when we could buy something very nice for that money.

We've also been able to use the rental as a "wheelchair" deal when needed because she's disabled. I didn't know if they would look more favorably on their stroller being used like this vs bringing our own. Last year we were able to bring it into Fantasmic when there were no seats...she's not very easy to hold even though she "looks normal".

Just trying to decide...rent or get our own to bring.

We did both on our last trip...our stroller broke exactly mid trip! We did a length of stay rental for 4 days...$8 day if you do this...we found them very easy to push and never a problem getting to and from the bus' with our little guy...he loves to walk. The cons of taking your own...takes up a lot of room in the resort room, hassle getting emptied and folded to get on and off bus', when bus' are at capacity there is no place to put it...you have to wait for another bus...I think your decision should be based on if your child will be willing to walk to and from the bus, or if you mind carrying her, etc. What ever you decide to do...HAVE FUN!!

It won't matter which you choose. Do whatever will be the most comfortable for her/you.
If you want more information about Guest Assistance Cards, there is a section in the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

She is willing to walk and we are willing to carry her. So we have that thought out.

I personally think the DW strollers are going to be easier to push then anything we could buy. My husband just hates to spend the money...this time. We've spent it time and time again (we do the length of stay purchase).

He's just wondering if there are cons to using your own stroller at the park that we can't think of.

We have the pro that we will have it to go from the park/boat/bus to the hotel (staying on Epcot lake again). We would buy something that folds small so that wouldn't be a huge issue. With her being 3 there's no reason to get a regular stroller but we would go with a light weight high end umbrella.

I tend to think we should just rent. His thought is that if we buy one we will have it for home. BUT...we could possibly have our insurance pay for one in the next year or 2.
