Renew or New AP

So my AP and DH’s have gotten out of sync—mine end of October, his end of January—We anticipate going together in late October and again in late January or February. So do I renew or buy a new AP? By my calculations if you save 15% on renewal, that translates to 1 1/2 month’s admission and I’m sure we won’t go during November, December and early January. I’m leaning toward getting a new AP but wonder if I’m missing anything. BTW, we get the Florida resident PD AP which they never stopped selling. WWYD?

I would wait and buy a new one to coincide with DH's renewal date, much as I hate the idea of giving up the 15% discount.

personally, renewals are cheaper, and at list point honored...
We never know if or when Disney will pull the plug again,
Last time I figured I would wait for the next trip, my son lost his, because of covid, and it has been really expensive going without it for 3 years....

Could I get around that risk by buying a full price voucher, but waiting to activate it?

Not sure ,
I know the new tickets are activated the date of first use.

I have never checked when the renewal starts since mine renewal coincides with an annual trip

A renewal would start the day after the current AP expires. I’m suggesting buying a voucher for a new AP at full price, which I would then activate (first use) near my DH’s renewal date at the end of January. I assume this is allowed?

Yes, you can buy a voucher now for a new, full price AP. You’ll have a year from purchase date to activate it. After that it becomes a credit that can be applied to purchase of another ticket, including an AP.

So in your case, since you expect to start using it in January, buying one now would make sense. It would also avoid any possible AP price increase between now and January.
