I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm looking for some advice about cleaning up my MDE account - specifically, the friends and family list. Over the years, I've gone with a variety of friends and family who were either new to Disney/not interested in setting up their own account/ or a child. Since I'm the planner in the group, I did the planning for them through my account. Now those kids/friends have grown up and others have set up their own accounts. We still travel together sometimes, and it gets confusing. How do I get rid of those old identities on my account? I tried to remove them, but it says they have active reservations/tickets. They aren't on any current reservations and I checked the tickets - all inactive. Any suggestions for removing them? I don't want to have 2 friends labeled "Son A" for example. We're in this brief window of time where the only ones with existing reservations/tickets are my husband and me, so I want to declutter now. Thanks!

The easiest way is to call Disney and ask to have those extra Profiles removed.

The more complicated ‘waste of time’ way is to link to the new MDX accounts that have been created so the Profiles will ‘merge over,’ but because all tickets on your account have been used and the other people don’t need their linked MBs, call and ask for removal.

Just call. Major pain to do yourself. Very quick and easy on the phone with support.

If you are of the mind to do it yourself, the process goes something like this: Make an email address somewhere (gmail comes to mind), then go into your family and friends list, and click update next to the person you want to remove. Click on Invite to Connect, and use the new email address you just created. Now log into the email, click on the link to accept the invite, and create a new account on MDE with it. Once you've created the new account, and accepted the invite, you can then log back into MDE with your account, go back to family and friends, click update again for that person, and this time, click on remove from list, and poof!

So basically you are creating a MDE account for each person you want to remove from your own MDE account? OK if you just want to remove one person. Seems like a lot of work if you want to remove more than one person.

yep, that's why its easiest for IT to do it :)

Thanks for the advice I have a ex and kids I want out of my account

Ha, me too! Well, not the kids, just the ex. I'm annoyed every time I see his stupid name in my MDE account, especially since while going through the divorce he claimed he never even liked going to WDW.:rolleyes:

You can assign everyone you want to delete to the same MDE using the same email address.

The reason it won’t otherwise delete the names is due to their having MBs. It says it’s due to tickets or a reservation but is really due to the existence of a MB on that profile.

Can you mark their magic bands as lost and then be able to remove them or still won't work?

Yup, it is time consuming. There are situations where it is the best solution though, so I figured I would share. If you are certain that all of the people should just vanish from your MDE and you will have no need of them again, then IT is the answer. If they are people whom you will likely travel with again at some point, and may have to do the planning for, then moving them to their own MDE, and keeping track of the login information for later use would be the wisest way forward.

Call and have them removed. I had close family on mine and ended up deleting one day of their FP by mistake. They were going to Disney (and didn't let me know) a day ahead of us. When I went to change up some FP's, I thought I had made a mistake on the date and deleted them. We always meet in Disney but now have separate accounts.

I also have some people in my F&F list whom I’d like to remove. When I click Update next to their names, I see an option to Remove them. Is it because they’ve never had tickets or MBs linked to them? (I clicked Remove earlier today but got an error message which I hope was due to the general MDE issues today.)

It gives you the option to remove everyone. But if the profile has a band or card associated it will give the “has a ticket or reservation” error.

But yeah, I’d wait to do this until MDE has settled down.
