just thought i'd remind everyone that the new episodes dealing with john ritter's death start tonight...i believe it's an hour long episode tonight...

Thanks....I'm definitely planning to watch.

Thanks for the reminder - I'll have to stop and get some tissue on the way home tonight. :(

Thanks for that reminder as well, Cookie....I might have forgotten to have tissue handy.

They were discussing this this morning on Good Morning America. They were talking to the cast members on the set. It has really affected them and I'm glad that they are dealing with this on the show instead of just trying to re-cast his character. From what I've seen, it looks like they are handling this very tastefully.

So glad that James Garner & Suzanne Pleshette are guest starring - not sure how many episodes they'll be on for.

I also plan on watching.....with my box of tissues...

From the ABC website:

Next Episode: "Goodbye"
Tuesday, November 4, 8/7c

After learning of the unexpected death of Paul, Cate and the kids must each deal with the loss of the beloved patriarch of the Hennessy family in their own way. To help console the family, Cate's parents — who are separated — put aside their marital differences and help the family through their time of need. James Garner and Suzanne Pleshette guest star as Cate's parents, on a special one-hour episode of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.

Thanks for the reminder...I would have forgotten!

I'll be watching...with a box of tissues right next to me. :(

<font color=navy>Thanks for the reminder. I've been wanting to see this, and I know I would've forgotten.

I don't really watch the show
curious how did he die on the show?

I asked DH to turn it off it just seems so sad

How did it start? I missed the first ten minutes. I came in on all of them crying and hugging.

They handled the situation very well I thought. It was a bad situation and they did their best with it. I hope the show will survive because it really is a good show with a great cast. I think that it might help someone else taht has gone through a similar situation. The feelings that the kids had and how they resolved their feelings about their dad leaving them. the last column that they ended with was great. It was a nice tribute to a wonderful actor that will be greatly missed.

I came in halfway through...How did he die in the show? I was crying buckets at the end.

His wife sent him to the grocery store to get some milk for breakfast. She was expecting him back in 10 minutes. She got a phone call and ran out of the house. They referred to him collapsing in aisle 3 of the store. Not a car accident like I thought it would be but pretty much what actually happened to him. That, I believe was the only reference to how he died.

The show was done extremely well IMO. I lost my mother at 14 and the emotions the kids displayed were "right on".

Thanks, Lanshark....Coming in halfway through, I thought it had been a car accident from what was being said.
