Remind me - what's the best way to mark your stroller?

I know, the dirty diaper thing - but aside from that :sad2: ;)

We have two maclaren strollers we're bringing. And, aside from being nervous that they'll get swiped (either accidentally or on purpose) they are very generic looking and I want them to stand out (both for the purpose of finding them after they've been parked and so they're less tempting to take).

Any ideas?

I don't really want to do a bandana either - because that's so easily removed.

I personally did the bandana, folded into a triangle, rolled and wrapped around the handle. Then we were able to just look for the bright orange amongst the sea of strollers. :) I have also seen others suggest using curled gift wrap ribbon - if you tie it on really tight it is difficult to remove without something to cut it with.

Oh, I LOVE the idea of curled ribbon! Thanks!!! :cool1:

this probably won't help any, but I am also putting a p-touch label with our last name in a spot where it isn't very noticeable. I am sure if my stroller was taken I would never see it again but in the rare instance I have the chance to identify it I wanted something that would prove it is mine.

I planned on tying a piece of fabric to the handle (like we do on our luggage) but would love to read some other tips/ideas.

What is the dirty diaper thing?

I think it originated in the unofficial guide. Someone recommended putting a diaper, tied in a sack, on the handle (and spilling some root beer on it for effect) - as if it's a dirty diaper - to deter anyone from taking that stroller.

I have heard the gift ribbon, and that's a pretty good idea. Probably my favorite yet...but hoping for more ideas.

Also wondering what a p-touch is...

I don't have a suggestion for daytime, but at night we put a couple of those glow stick necklaces around the handles and it made it SO easy to find!

great idea! I like the curly ribbon idea .... especially DIS colors (lime green!). we may try that next week! :) If you see a combi savvy soho with lime green curly ribbon, stop and say hello! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

This is sort of off topic, but is stroller stealing a problem at WDW????

Should I leave my pricier stroller at home and just buy a more generic version for our trip?

I have heard the occassional story on the boards but don't know anyone it's happened to personally. I think it's more likely to happen at Downtown Disney or places that are open to the general public, but I'm sure it can happen anywhere.

As far as if you should bring a more generic stroller, I guess it just depends on what you're comfortable with. I saw quite a few pricier strollers, a few Bugaboo's even, when we were there in April. See lots of Peg Perego's and Maclarens too. Both of our strollers were in the $100 range (& one was a gift so we didn't even pay for it). Personally I don't worry about it, other than the hassle it would be at the time if we came out from a ride and it was gone. I don't leave anything valuable in it, that's for sure. I mean 100 bucks is not a measly amount of money but I've gotten enough use out of those strollers at the parks, I'm sure I've saved way more in the cost of a rental ...that's just the way I choose to look at it. I like the fact that it's my stroller, only my ds uses it, and it's comfortable for him.

I have heard about putting a lock on the stroller so that it can't be folded up without unlocking it...that is something you could try. Someone could roll it away but they wouldn't be able to fold it to get it on to a tram or the trunk of their car. People have suggested padlocking the stroller to something but that isn't recommended because the cm's are constantly moving them to make room for more and keep areas safe for pedestrian traffic.

hth!

I just wanted to add that you might want the name in a Prominent spot so others will see it. I believe most walk off with strollers by mistake. We had this happen to us. We came out of San Angel and could not find our stroller(it had been storming all night) but right where we left our stroller was another stroller- exact same one except for their name on the stroller. Now we grabbed this one for ds and contacted guest services about the mix up. We had their name so I figured they would want it but no luck. They never came looking or returning. They were in very similar new condition thankfully. I like the idea of ribbon of some kind wrapped on the handle.

Good idea!! I will do that. I'm sure with all the talk of the wonderful Peg P3's there will be lots just like mine. I also picked up some red and white polka dot fabric to tie to it. Very ::MinnieMo

Don't forget to also put ID on it somewhere where it can be found if it turns up at Lost and Found. I make up some labels with our name and cell phone numbers and use some clear nail polish to seal them onto the underside of the frame. If a luggage tag falls off or is taken off, there is really no way to identify it unless the name is on the frame itself.

We bought one of those Silver Mylar Mickey baloons when DD was 4. It lasted all week and then I put a straw in it, let out the air, and took it home. The local party store refilled it for a buck and she had a souvenir for about a month before it went down.
