Remind me to book through Disney from now on

Booked through hotels.com yesterday. Saved about $40 or so. YAY! So I realized I have no Disney confirmation number to do online check-in. Call hotels.com. They say call POP and find out. So I called POP. My reservation isn't in the system yet, call back tomorrow. Ok that's cool, I understand. So I called back today. Nope, still nothing, but the lady was SOOOOO nice. She tells me to call hotels.com back and they have to call the wholesale line. Ok that's no biggie. Call back, and get put on hold or "3-5 minutes" 20 minutes later I gave up and hung up. Called back again, and they call not the wholesale number, but POP. Guess what-they don't have the stinkin number. OK DUH!! I just gave up after that.

Told me to call back tomorrow. Good thing I have a ton of minutes on my phone :(
 
You "might" be able to access something via this link. Click on "Through a group or convention" and put in your hotel.com conf#.

I used this link when I booked through Orbitz and it showed minimal info; lead name/date/resort/option for online checkin. This was with my Orbitz conf#.

In the meantime I also kept calling Disney for an official ressie#, yet nothing appeared in the system. They kept telling me to contact Orbitz. Finally 6 days prior it showed something in their system, but they couldn't give me an official resort reservation # until 3-4 days prior to checkin. Guest Relations stated that their system is set up that way and wasn't Orbitz fault.

I book Dh's work travel through hotels.com quite often (side note, I go through a "rewards" site and get money back on the deal, which is lovely and I highly recommend doing it if you do "rewards" sites), and I generally only get the email with a non-hotels.com number a day or so before the reservation.

I do not know if that email would include the actual Disney info that you'd need for online checkin.

I do know that hubby has never needed ANY number to check in when actually at the desk, it's all in his name, so even if you can't do online checkin, it's not going to be a hassle when you get there, just a bit more time.
 
I know it's not hotels.com's fault, but the way they handled me on the phone wasn't cool. People I talked to at POP?? SO nice. People at hotels? Not so much. And it didn't work :( but thank yoU!
 

For WDW I would never use a wholesaler like Travelocity, etc. Often you can get the same discount thru WDW. Just watch the WDW site under Special Offers. Because if there is ever a problem, These other sites are a nightmare to deal with, as you've found out.
They hold your reservation, not Disney. That's why Disney has no record of your reservation until a few days before check in.

I have used Disney Specialized TAs and they are very good. And Will send you a special link for on line check in 10 days before your date. They know all about booking with Disney. The others haven't a clue.

So I book either directly with Disney or use a Disney Specialized TA. Much easier.

Just wanted to add, I've never used the on line check in option, and haven't had very long waits for check in. Maybe it's because I don't go during the real busy times?

I didn't mean to imply that you said it was Hotels.com's fault. I just thought I'd share what Disney told me regarding my situation (with Orbitz) since I didn't understand the process. :)

...and sorry the link didn't work. When the 48 hr ultra steep discounts came out this year for Southwest, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc...a group of us on Dis used that link.

It's all good :). Lehuaann- I figured you didn't mean it that way :) I know it has to do with the system, but yeah. Totally will go directly through Disney!! I've made all other vacations arrangements with Disney but found a better rate through hotels-no idea why either. Eh too late now to worry- just needed to let some hot air off of my chest heh
 
mmtska, I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you ever got the ressie number from booking with hotels.com ,and did you have any trouble when you checked in at Disney? I have also booked with hotels.com. Thanks!
