Remembering Mommy ... update

A week or so I started a thread about how to best remember my wife during our WDW trip, coming up on May 27th.

Last night, I went into my son's bedroom because I heard him crying. "I wish Mommy was here. I know she wanted more than anything to go with us to WDW, but she can't."

Once I calmed him down a bit, he said "Daddy, you know why you're so special to me? You took Mommy's dream for us and made it real. Mommy couldn't take us to WDW, but you saved up enough money to make sure we get to go every year (I bought a DVC membership with the last of her life insurance). You're a dream maker Daddy, and I love you."

What a great way for my son to say thanks. I'm truly blessed.

We bought DVC memberships to pass our love, craziness and absolute joy when we are at Disney to our precious granddaughters. I am so glad you get to share this with your child and so sorry your wife didn't get to in this life.

Wow, I guess I didn't need my mascara to stay on today. That was incredibly sweet and I really hope that you and your family have an amazing and wonderful trip.

It's good that your son can see past his grief & understand how special of a dad you are but my heart breaks for that little boy. I have 2 sons & when I read your 1st post about this I was crying my eyes out.

Thanks all. It's our family tradition (started last year) to buy Mickey ears from each trip. Last year everyone got Pirates of the Caribbean ears. This year Brendan wants to get an extra set for Mommy, and of course I said he could.
