Wasn’t There a Recording Booth at CityWalk? What Was It Called?

Was I the only kid who belted out a tune at Universal’s CityWalk and scored a souvenir CD or tape to prove it? Those recording booths were such a blast—you’d pay a little, step inside, and leave with your very own keepsake. Anyone remember what that spot was called, where it was tucked away, how long it lasted, or if you knew of anything similar? I’m dying to know if anyone else rocked it there!

I remember that. Was it Studio 54 or something like that? Sadly, I didn't belt out any tunes. I wouldn't do that to passersby. I couldn't hold a tune, if my life depended on it.

Haha, fair enough! I think a lot of people felt the same way—no need to subject innocent bystanders to a performance they weren’t asking for. But I think the fun of those booths was really in the whole experience, not the vocal ability!

Do you remember exactly where it was located? I’m thinking it was kind of tucked away but still overlooking the promenade, so you could see the crowd without actually being in the middle of it all. It gave you a little space, but you still felt like part of the action.


and didn’t they offer video recording later on, where you could actually make a rock video with props in front of a blue screen?

DH & I were talking about it, after I read this. We can't remember exactly where it was, but we're both thinking it was on a side street on the right hand side, if you're walking toward the parking garage from the parks. It was before you got to the clubs. Naturally, we could be completely wrong. Our memory isn't what it used to be. Hopefully, someone with a better memory will chime in.
