Remember Fred Dodd...the Embedded Reporter With My Son's Unit???

I know a lot of you followed his Desert Dispatch reports religiously over the 5 months that he was embedded with Bobby's unit. You probably also remember that his wife found out a week before he left that she was pregnant. Well, tonight we're giving them a "couples" baby shower. Actually it's a cookout and baby shower combined with Marines and their spouses and parents, and also with some of Fred's co-workers from the newspaper.

Should be fun....and another way for us to express our "thanks" to him and his wife for their sacrifices.

Oh, and one more thing...the photo in my signature was taken by Fred.

Patty, that's really nice. Fred and his wife deserve all the happiness and gifts they will be getting since he gave all of you parents (and us cyber-aunts) daily gifts of information. All my best go out to Fred and his wife. Enjoy the shower!

I think we regular folks owe appreciation to both those who protect our rights via serve in the military and those who help us use our first amendment rights by reporting.

There is a pop culture myth that the too are at odds. I doubt the those who do eiter job with honor see that as nessisarily so. That isn't to say they have the same roll but that the rolls can respect each others responsibilities.
