Sorry if this has been posted. I'm sure it probably has been, but I couldn't find it in a search.

Bill Zanetti lets you in on the plans for Remember: Dreams Come True, the new fireworks spectacular at the Disneyland Resort in California for Disneyland's 50th.

Remember is without a doubt the most amazing fireworks extravaganza in Disney history. I was lucky enough to receive the whole scoop on the show. I'm sorry to say that I have since been required to remove the concept art. So sorry about that. But the article is still here. But before we get to that, let's go into what Remember is. Remember is the new fireworks show for Disneyland's 50th Celebration that is based on the last 50 years of Disneyland.

According to an earlier official press release, Jiminy Cricket was to host the show. Well, if you were still hoping for that, then I have bad news for you. And if you loved Mary Poppins, then I have excellent news for you. Julie Andrews has replaced Mr. Cricket as the new host of the show. And from what I hear, she did a spectacular job of hosting the show in the recording sessions. It truly adds a lot to the show since she has such a great legacy with Disney. So that's good news for most of you there.

Now, the rest of the show itself is half expected, half not. So, the first part of the show, or rather, the first half of the show, is lifted from segments of Wishes mixed with new material of the same style and mood. Not to say it's entirely the same, but there are pieces of music that are from Wishes. (Wishes if you don't know, is the current fireworks show at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park) The rest of the first half of the show keeps the same style and tone of Wishes, but its underlying meaning is more focused on Walt Disney and his life. But that's probably what you expected anyway. And Julie narrates the first half of the show just like that, focusing on Walt, Disney Characters, and the Wishes-like music in the background.

Finally, Julie Andrews gets to a point where she talks about Walt's grandest dream.. his dream of a magical place called Disneyland. And that's where the real new magic happens. Tinker Bell flies out of the Matter horn, but instead of gracefully flying over the castle, she falls straight down.. at fifty feet a second.. and that's the end of Tinker Bell.. Err, wait, that can't be right. Oh, then she flies back up...and around.. and side to side.. and up and down all around the castle. And at one point, she actually stops on top of the castle and freaks everyone out, and then she enchants the castle, trigging some amazing fireworks on the castle, and then Walt Disney begins to speak. It's his opening day speech, scored to an 80 piece symphony orchestra. Shells are going up behind the castle, and they keep building up as Walt does his speech.

And finally at the end, Tink makes another fly-by as a rainbow of colorful fireworks go off behind her, and she touches the castle with her want, and out comes an 80,000 watt flash of light, blinding everyone from Anaheim to Santa Barbara. Well, maybe it's not that bright, but still, it's enough to blind you for a moment, and in that moment, Tink vanishes. Many of you will recognize this scene from the opening credits of the old Disneyland TV Show.

And that brings us to the "E-Tickets in the Sky" section of the show, the part that really makes the entire show worthwhile, re-creating classic Disneyland attractions, current and extinct, using the largest canvas of all, the sky. It begins with Main Street USA, opening with the Disneyland Limited Railroad Spiel. And fireworks light up the sky based on Main Street U.S.A. Stars and Stripes, and lots of red, white and blue. Star shaped fireworks will be used in this portion of the show, along with whistle shells that twirl up into the air. From there, the music fades into the Main Street Electrical Parade, with extremely colorful shells that turn white as they explode, ending with a grand sparkle effect.

After that, we enter Adventureland, home of the Enchanted Tiki Room. The original soundtrack been digitally restored for the restored Tiki Room, and the newly restored voices are used in Remember. But with an 80-piece orchestra rendition of the Tiki Room musical numbers. It's great fun, with colorful custom geometric shells of Polynesian flowers and tropical plants. (Made in China)

But then, at one point in the show, "The Gods have become angered by all the celebrating." Except, in Remember, the god that becomes angered is Mara from the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye. And Mara sends up sixty foot flames into the sky all across. And then a firework shaped like Mara's eye goes off.. and the Indy segment goes on with many flame colored fireworks scored to the rides's soundtrack.

"Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion." Yes, that's the next part of Remember. Disney took the Ghost Host spiel and overlaid it onto a grand orchestra version of the Haunted Mansion soundtrack, something between a mix of the Haunted Mansion's and Phantom Manor's soundtracks. And they you hear, "Is this Haunted Room actually stretching?" And all around the hub, yes, brand new launch locations around the hub, 300 foot tall comets go off, which are very tall and thin fireworks. And if that wasn't enough, the music keeps building on, and we enter the séance room with Madame Leota and she speaks, and finally, when it all ends, you're left with a sky full of green and purple fireworks, and Little Leota softly speaking, "Hurry back, hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us." And while she's saying that, you can hear the bride's heartbeat, and heart-shaped fireworks are launched into the sky.

Out of that you hear, "Dead men tell no tales." The Pirates of the Caribbean themed section of the show begins, with a new score that carries the tune of the ride's classic song, but the style of the movie's soundtrack. And a giant image of skull and crossbones is projected on to the Matterhorn and the castle. Which sets the scene. If you remember how the actual ride goes, there's a battle sequence between the fort and the pirate ship. Well, now the pirate ship is the Matterhorn, and the fort is somewhere hidden to the left of the castle. And a full scale battle begins with comets going from side to side, and every time one of these comets hits the ground, a mine of fireworks explodes into the sky.

And that finally ends with a giant firework that is shot from the top of the Matterhorn, and hits the castle, and creates a giant splash of "fan" shaped fireworks.

And that's a huge segment, and it's been pretty involved for a bit now, so now they take it down a notch and go back up into the sky for a Rivers of America sequence with beautiful waterfalls of fireworks falling out of the sky. And the ripples of these "waterfalls" actually end up on the castle itself. It's reported to be an amazing effect not to be missed.

And then they head into Frontierland with Big Thunder Mountain. "This here's the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!" And the sky erupts with fireworks moving all in unison with train sound effects from Big Thunder Mountain.. so, as the train sound effects move, very quickly I might add, fireworks go off one right after another, and this includes the ones in the hub, which gives the effect that the fireworks are the train, and it's running a muck all around you. And then, you start hearing gun shots from the shootin' gallery, and the train crashes into the shooting gallery. Giant bulls eyes are shot into the sky, and that little duck from the shooting gallery will be projected across the castle. No word yet on if he gets shot, poor little guy. Heh heh.

Then the show enters a segment called the laughing place. And the vultures come on from Splash Mountain saying, "So, yer' looking for a laughin' place, ay'?" And that begins a segment of the show based on all the fun places in the park like Splash Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and other Fantasyland and Critter Country attractions. Then you head into a Toon Town segment, and end up on Roger Rabbit's Car-toon Spin. And the music is just crazy. Giant 50 foot tall pryo pin-wheels pop up from behind the castle, (similar to Fantasmic!) and we end up in the last scene of Roger Rabbit, with the "Orphan Box Can Can" song. And these angled mines (explosions) of fireworks start going off with the music, and they just keep getting faster and faster and closer together, until it all goes nuts, and then at the end of this scene, you hear a giant pop. And everything stops. And you hear, "Pop goes the weasel." (From America Sings) and he slams the door and a giant smiley face firework is done in the sky.

And that brings us to the first of two finales for the show. And the first is based on Tomorrowland. This segment begins with, "All personnel, please clear the launch platform" and then and a large scanner laser scans the area in front of the castle. And we hear another classic Tomorrowland line. "Warning light sir, we've reached maximum depth limit." and a few other lines from the Subs. Then we hear, "MAGINIFICATION.. How could we possibly survive?" And then..

"Da do da doo.. Star Tours announces the boarding of the Endor Express. All passengers, please prepare for immediate boarding." And a giant comet flies across the sky and the Star Wars theme begins. And that's where this show gets amazing folks. Giant shells go up into the sky. Big saturns, big comets, big double rings. And if you're a Star Wars fan, you'll love this part. A laser starts coming out of the castle and starts blowing up things all around the hub and Main Street. It's basically the famous Star Wars battle sequence, done with fireworks, all around you. And while this is happening, fireworks just keep going off left and right, and then, what they call the "Death Star" firework explodes. And finally, blue and gold fireworks just keep going off, left and right, in all shooting locations, completing the "E-Tickets in the Sky" finale.

And then, there's the final, true, "When You Wish" finale, which I'm not going to spoil for you even if you want it spoiled! But let's just say that Tinker Bell comes back and does some magic, and Julie Andrews narrates the ending, with all gold fireworks.

So, that's Remember: Dreams Come True. And that's the reason you need to go to Disneyland for the 50th. So, I hope you enjoyed this article, and hope you have a magical day! And if you're an insider and have any more information on remember (not mentioned here) please e-mail me at bill@magicalears.com, as I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Okay then, take care you wonderful people!
