Hi, all. I am mikmin6554's wife. We are SSR owners. He's been trying to get me to register on this forum for awhile, but of course it took a major life change to actually do it.

We are moving to an apartment in Orlando (the Orlo Vista area) in one (yes, I said one) week. I would be lying if I didn't say that this was mostly mikmin6554's idea. It's something he's always wanted to do.

However, I am getting a bit panicky about this huge move, :scared1: and I need a bit of encouragement to convince me this is a great idea and everything will be a blast. I will be happy to hear any and all of your opinions on this subject. :cheer2:

It is about 10 degrees today here in Syracuse, NY. The thought of staying in sunny and warm Orlando sounds GREAT to me right now!

Enjoy your new home and the many trips you will be able to take to the World!

Do it! We hope to move to Orlando some day. Good luck, let us know how it's going when you get there.

I just knew I could count on all of you for making me feel better about this move. I will be happy to post reports once we get there to let you know how it's going.

I think I'm going to like it here on the DISboards! :yay:

you are going to be living my DREAM!:yay: Hopefully we (DH and I) will be moving to the Orlando area within two years:woohoo: Just have to meet some finacial goals and then find a job there:scared1:

Best of luck to you!

By the way, were in PA are you? We have lived in Huntingdon Valley in the past and I worked at Abington Memorial.

Thanks for the good wishes!

We live in Center City Philly-- not far at all from Huntingdon Valley. I have relatives who used to live there, and I've driven past Abington Memorial many times.

They always say when people look back on their lives they always regret the things that they didn't do, rather than the things they did.

I've lived all over the world, it's good to get out there and see it! :thumbsup2

And here's my tip for packing-if you haven't touched it in a year, throw it out or donate it to goodwill.

It's liberating.

Life is an adventure and I bet your next chapter will be an exciting one!! Wishing the best in settling in...:)

Hi, soon to be former neighbor:rotfl2: I live in SE PA as well. I only wish I could move to Florida....I have been trying to figure out a way for years (and convince my wife). Looks like I am going to have to wait until the boys are out of school! Enjoy yourself and remember days like today....8 inches of snow, 30 mph winds, 20 degrees!!:scared1:

Congrats on the move.....Considering the weather here today, I am thinking the move looks better and better.....

Hey, it's nice to know another soon to be former neighbor. I didn't realize there were so many of us up here. We're fllying out 1 week from today, so I hope we start a trend. Maybe soon this entire board will be posting from the happiest place on earth! :yay:

Come on and follow us down there! :cool2:

As a matter of fact we will be flying out Friday for 10 days at WDW:banana: Beach Club here we come!

I kept thinking to myself.... what are we doing here? as DH and I braved howling winds to shovel snow today. I know it has been cool in FL but nothing like this! Best wishes, we hope to be doing the same soon. :thumbsup2

Good luck on your move. We always talk about moving there someday. I hope soon. We are also from Pa. near Scranton. We did not get all the snow today which is quite unusual but it is cold, 2 degrees. One daughter in college for another year and our son may move back home for a year or two, so it could still be a few years, but good luck to you.

Currently live in Orlando :)
it is worth it. Take your time getting to know the place, there is so much to do here, and it can be overwhelming. Only thing I miss about being up north is theater and ease of transportation.
Otherwise..welcome...and be ready to live the Mickey party..not just be a part of it

Congratulations on your move. It's a tough and big decision for sure. Good luck with it and please keep us posted. I hope it's everything you guys want it to be and more. I am always curious to know a year or so later how it all worked out and if it is all you thought it would be.

Welcome to the Disboard and hope you have a smooth transition.

I'm starting to really look forward to it now. Do you know anything about the Orlo Vista area of Orlando, around the 4400 block of S. Kirkman Road?
