Hello all you fabulous Disers! Torn on a relocation subject...grew up in the same state I'm in and really don't mind it. However, DH is job searching and found a decent job opening in Sioux Falls, SD. Neither of us are "city" people..we would prefer an acreage of some sort. I don't even know where to possibly begin our search of "small" towns near this area. Any ideas? Suggestions? Concerns?(except for the fact that I already know it'll be cold!!!!! we're used to that! =) )I guess I'm just asking for some insight. HELP!!!!! :goodvibes
TIA!!!!:thumbsup2

There are MANY small towns around Sioux Falls. It depends on how far out you want to go. Heck, there are acreages available with a Sioux Falls address. Sioux Falls isn't really much of a "city." Think of it as a big small town.

I rely on http://www.city-data.com/forum/ for this type of information. They really "tell it like it is".

Is there any possibility he could go ahead for a trial period and see how he likes the position before you uproot the whole family? Just a thought...

Good luck, we've enjoyed visiting out there!

Terri

you will like San Diego, its warm all year round, no snow!

you won't have to have two sets of clothing, "winter" and "other", and you don't have to worry about snow stranding you anywhere!

oh...

nevermind!:lmao:

Sioux Falls is a great town. It is more like a suburb then a city-biggest small town you will live in. Brandon is probably the "best" town outside of Sioux Falls. The schools there are VERY good, better then Sioux Falls even. It's a cute town that borders SF so the commute isn't anything. They have a great golf course there too. Actually SF has a LOT of nice golf courses in and around town. I would move back to Sioux Falls in a heartbeat (after the kids are done with school because the SD public schools are marginal at best).

I just noticed that you are from Iowa-Sioux Falls is a lot like Cedar Rapids (not quite as big though). It is a fairly wealthy town actually, with a lot of industry/major businesses headquartered there.

Not sure about Sioux Falls. We stayed there one night when we were locating from Fla to Pierre for my job. I enjoyed the town. Good luck with your move!

Thanks for all the input!:thumbsup2

Oh and the San Diego comment..thank you for making me chuckle. It was much appreciated!!!
