Reliable and regular alternate transportation for Boardwalk when it’s storming.

We were trying to get back from Hollywood Studios to Boardwalk via Epcot and then the five minute walk. It wasn’t threatening rain until we got to the CBR transfer, then the sky opened up. We got off the now closed skyliner, and found there is no substitute bus service offered under these circumstances. They had buses coming to take people to all the skyliner resorts, and Epcot, but we didn’t have park hoppers so we couldn’t get off there. Finally they got a bus and told us we would be transferred back to Hollywood Studios for a bus to take us to Boardwalk. The bus driver was told which bus stop to make. Turns out it was wrong. He called and transfers us across the parking lot to another bus stop, also wrong. No one knew the correct one! After an hour and a half of this back and forth from the time we exited the skyliner , we walked back in the downpour from Hollywood Studios to Boardwalk. Why oh why can Disney not decide on a permanent bus stop number for people staying in the Crescent Lake area for these situations? Neither the skyliner nor the boat operates in storms, and apparently there is no regular bus substitution, according to the bus drivers. Puts a con in the column for the otherwise wonderful Crescent Lake resorts.

I have done the waiting out a storm to get a bus back to Crescent Lake from HS, one time on a YC stay the boat turned around halfway to Swolphin and went back due to lightning. It took forever for buses to come for Crescent Lake guests. It sucks that there’s not a better system in place and they never seem to have it together. But I just rideshare in those situations now.

And, ngl, I have always had a really hard time understanding Crescent Lake guests using the Skyliner for anything but resort hopping to Riv or going between Epcot and HS. This kind of scenario is a prime example of why. The boat probably would have gotten you home before the storm was an issue, even if you had only just gotten to Swolphin. The walk from their dock to BWI is shorter than from Epcot. We had that exact scenario play out last week even.

I love to stay at a boardwalk area resort, but it is a huge negative when it storms. The only good option is to grab a lyft/minnie van. If you can get one. I was stuck in Epcot last week with a scooter, and couldn't even get a minnie van to get me during the rain. It is a problem, and something to keep in mind when booking a skyliner resort or one that relies on boats.

This has been an issue for years, long before the Skyliner. We love the BWI resort but have been stuck in the pouring rain a few times when leaving HS. They have eventually called for a bus to get us back to the resort but are in no hurry to do so. Options are to stand in the rain waiting on a bus that picks you up in the parking lot or walk in the rain to the resort. I like option three of finding a spot to sit and have an adult beverage while waiting for the rain to stop.

I wanted my grandchildren to get to experience the skyliner. Instead they experienced frustrated parents and grandmother!
