We were in HHI over the summer and we were able to bring a cooler with beer to the pool. I have heard some of the other resorts don't allow drinking by the pool. Is this true?
Stormalong Bay at BCV used to have a "no drinks within 3 feet" rule. I believe that it applied to any drinks (soda, etc). We were ther in October, however, and it didn't look like it was being enforced stringently.
We were at BCV at the quiet pool this past Oct. and alot of people had coolers and had glass bottles. Of course no one is around to enfore any rules. No one had them near the pool, but at their tables.

That's the time someone needs to call the front desk and ask them to take care of the problem. If people don't understand why they aren't supposed to have glass at the pool, are they really smart enough to even vacation?

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, we pool hopped to the Caribbean Beach feature pool in September. I was sitting at the zero-entry area with my grandson and a plastic bottle of water, and a life-guard came to tell me drinks (of apparently any kind) were not allowed within 3 feet (I think) of the pool. So, I gladly moved.
