Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

The Tarzan moment was priceless, but I confess, after I really thought about it, that Aladdin moment with Nemo did come to mind. :goodvibes
I love that moment, it just sounds like it was so sweet.

Bummer on the Goofy's pretzels, I love those. Could be the toppings, like you said.

And I agree, I love Buzz, but it's a buzzkill (ha ha ha) to go on it after Toy Story Mania. Still love it though. Two of Mom's favorites. :goodvibes
I think we were so looking forward to them that they just didn't live up to our expectations, oh well.

I'm guessing 30 hat photos! To see the side by side comparison with weight loss will be so fun!

I am with Laura on the Kona thing -- love love love it! It's totally our favorite place to go these days!

While I enjoyed both of those things, I can certainly see how they did not live up to the hype. The are hyped an awful lot.

For me, Le Cellier and Coral Reef did not live up to the hype.
A lot of people don't think Le Cellier lives up to the hype. I went to Coral Reef not expecting much and was okay with the food. I like the atmosphere much better.

Hat guess: 33. Just because I like that number and I know you can take a lot of pictures. :rotfl2:

What didn't live up to the hype for me? I wish I could say Stitch's Great Escape, but I don't think that had any hype to begin with. I think for me, it would be Illuminations. I like the lasers and fireworks and I love the music, but it just doesn't wow me like Wishes does. :cloud9:

I can't wait to see your whole costume ensemble!
I have to agree, Illuminations is no Wishes. It's just not the same.

17 is my new guess.

What didn't live up to the hype.... I got to think about this perhaps in class tonight...
Looking forward to what you think.

What didn't live up to the hype for me: Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

To be fair it was raining like crazy so what should have been an enjoyable open air boat ride left me completely soaked before I'd even gotten there.

There wasn't much to choose from for us food wise so we all left hungry, DH and I don't drink wine or beer so the all you can drink thing was a bust and while the entertainment was great, we were soaked too much to fully enjoy it and it was a free-for-all if you could get your kids close enough to meet the characters. :scared:

I'm glad we did it but we won't ever go again.
I don't think I have ever really heard about Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It doesn't sound lik emuch fun to me that is for sure.

My DMIL and DSIL would completely agree with you on Buzz. They thought it was "cute" but they expected TSM when they got on it.

For me, the first time I saw it, Illuminations. It was our first trip and while I thought it was nice, it wasn't "Wow!". We didn't see Wishes that trip, so I had nothing to compare it to, but it didn't make the "Must Do" list for the next trip.

However, since then, it has REALLY grown on me and now I really like it!

I also didn't think schoolbread was all that great. It was good, but it's too donut-y for me to be something special. Joe loves it though!

I'm excited to see your costume!!!
I agree with you there on Illuminations. I loved the school bread the first time I ate it and then the second time it just was "meh". Not great, I wasn't very happy about that.

I think everyone has their "don't live up to the hype" things! For me it's Muppet Vision 3D! Not sure why. Maybe because PhilHarMagic is one of my favorite things in all of WDW. I just don't really like it all that much, take it or leave it.

I know a lot of people LOVE and I completely understand that!

I can't wait to see the MNSSHP outfit!!!!!

Do you think I way over guessed the hat pictures?????? I was thinking you could easily take 8 a day every day.

As far as what didn't live up the hype? That's a tough one...... I would have to say that Narcoossee's did not live up to the hype. It was just so-so. I am sure there are some more things that did not live up to the hype. Like Space mountain. I didn't really think it was all that different.

I have to say though, for not living up to the hype, those pretzels look pretty darn good.

Hat pictures: I guess 37 (is that taken, I can't remember).

What didn't live up to the hype for me was MVMCP. While fun (and the fact that I got to ride Space Mountain with the lights on), it was a 'meh' experience for me. However, don't tell DH! He would kill me for spending that money and not loving it! :rotfl: Plus, the time I went, it was raining off and on, there was no snow on Main Street. The parade was good, but they shelved a few things because of the weather. OH well.

I've been lurking on the boards for a little while and really enjoyed reading everyone's trip reports, so I decided to join! Yay for being 29 days away!:yay:

WOOT WOOT for 29 days that is awesome!!!! I cannot wait to see your costume. I just imagine how amazing you are going to look in it!! YAY!!!

Hmmmm...things that didn't live up the hype....do I dare even say it, I might get banned from the boards for this...but the Dole Whip Float! I know....ban me now LOL!!! I just didn't go gaga over it, I don't know if it was the juice that was too much for me or what!! If I ever decide to try it again I'm going to go with just the soft serve, maybe that will be more my style!!!

Things that didn't live up to the hype? Hmmm...I will have to think about it.

I might have a couple...

Okay...here are mine...

(I almost don't want to write them because I am afraid of the reactions ).

Toy Story Mania (while fun with a really neat queue, I just am not a big "video game" type girl), and Le Cellier (loved the Cheddar Cheese soup and pretzel bread, but the rest of my meal just didn't rock my boat).

2 things come to mind: The Princess Lunch at Akershus, and Illuminations. The food stunk and the princess spent all of about 3 nanoseconds with us at the lunch, and Illuminations has a ball sort of floating around out there with not much action going on. There. I said it. Phew.

:rotfl2: I have to admit, I still don't completely understand Illuminations, but I love it anyway...just wish it was 10 mins longer! :rotfl2:

I love the muppets because I grew up with them but I'm kinda over the 3D show, it really needs to be updated.

I have no idea. It depends on how many pictures I can convince Marc to pose for. :rotfl2:

Most of the reviews I've heard of Narcoossee's are just okay. I still would like to try it someday though.

I don't think it's taken, but I will let you know when I organize all the answers again.

Don't worry, I won't tell your DH. :lmao: I think a lot of people haven't been wowed by MVMCP, but the weather totally affects your experience!

Welcome!! Thanks for de-lurking. :goodvibes

DITTO! I didn't like the Dole Whip Float AT ALL. Which is weird because I love pineapple, just not with my ice cream I guess. :rotfl2:

I feel like I'm taking Disney confession. My heart broke just a teeny bit with the TSM comment but I can respect that. Did you have the potatoes at Le Cellier? It's allllll in the potatoes. :rotfl:

I'm with you on Illuminations. I could take it or leave it, the globe doesn't do it for me. Do you feel better now? :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I have to admit, I still don't completely understand Illuminations, but I love it anyway...just wish it was 10 mins longer! :rotfl2:
It's pretty. Just not my thing.

I've heard some not so great reviews of MVMCP, especially due to crowds. Maybe more locals enjoy MVMCP over MNSSHP. :confused3

It was incredibly crowded. MNSSHP was so much fun, this was just lacking that. My BFF thought the same thng.

I enjoyed watching the new Let's Make a Deal when I was recovering from my kidney stone. :rotfl2: That's on before The Price is Right.

I use to love Let's Make a Deal! Especially the cheesy costumes. I use to love when people would lose their cool prize to win something stupid like a llama. :rotfl: What can I say, I have a bit of an evil streak!

I wasn't a big fan of the float either. Way too much pineapple for me. I do like the plain soft serve, swirled with the vanilla. It's really refreshing.

I'd like to go to MVMCP at least once. I'm toying with December 2011, but we shall see. I'm attached to January and September trips.

I love the costumes on Let's Make a Deal. They are so creative!

A lot of people don't think Le Cellier lives up to the hype. I went to Coral Reef not expecting much and was okay with the food. I like the atmosphere much better.

You have hit this exactly on the head. Coral Reef has amazing atmosphere, but the food seemed completely uninspired. I found this particularily interesting because I feel like their presentation value for the food was high but the taste was very eh.

I felt the same way. Our plates looked so pretty and the food looked delicious but the taste was just "eh". Marc really liked it and wants to go back but I told him I wasn't in love with the food and he admitted the only thing he remembered eating there was the seaweed salad that came with his shrimp appetizer, that it was more the atmosphere.

28 glorious days until Disney!

I can't even tell you how I feel today. 28 days makes me feel like my trip is going to be here quickly. Nevermind that my ticker says FOUR WEEKS!!

FOUR WEEKS from now, I will probably be on Magical Express headed towards Riverside!!! Heck! Maybe we'll even already be at Riverside.:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Yesterday we talked about things that didn't live up to the hype, how about today we talk about underrated attractions? Those attractions or Disney things that we feel don't get enough credit.

Marc - One Man's Dream.

DisneyJan2010Day1andDay2303.jpg

I can't fully explain how much Marc loves One Man's Dream. You should have seen his face when I told him it was going to be closed while we are there. I thought he was going to cry. He says he loves the history of Walt Disney, and loved seeing things from his life and also the history of the parks. Even liked the movie, which is saying something because he normally falls asleep during movies!

Leslie - Carousel of Progress.

I get upset everytime the CM who runs CoP tells the audience to get ready for a nap! :headache: This is CLASSIC Walt Disney! How can you not love it? Sigh. It makes me think of Walt and the World's Fair and just makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

What about you? What do you think is underrated at Disney?

Another good question! Ilike both of your choices, I really enjoy One Man's Dream a lot and think the CoP is interesting, too.

I think my pick would be the trails at AK. I think they have so much to offer and you can do them many times and find new things to see.

Also, for a restaurant I think Flying Fish is underrated (which reminds me, I ought to post that review on my TR tonight :goodvibes). It isn't one of those restaurants with a wow factor like Narcossee's and CG and it hasn't such a special cuisine like Jiko. I also think it suffers from being so close to the many WS restaurants. But two trips in a row we had the best meal of the trip there! :thumbsup2

Ok I have to say my overrated thing and you have to PROMISE not to hit me ok??

Cream Cheese Pretzel :duck:

I mentioned it before but I absolutely  WDW pretzels and I LOVE cream cheese but this just didn't work.

Underrated: TTA I am so glad its underrated because I love riding it over and over with no lines :goodvibes Oh wait...its the Tomorrowland Transity People Mover now right?! :confused3

I'm so sad about One Man's Dream being closed for our trip too. We've never walked through it and I was really hoping to on this trip. Oh well. Next time!

I too am very sad whenever I visit CoP. We are usually in the theater with about 10 other people. I remember actually having to wait in line for CoP when I was little! I love all of the scenes, except the last one. It's still SO outdated and almost comical. I wish they would do something about it. Even now, I keep singing "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..." Gets stuck in my head every time!

Yay for 28 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:

Something that doesn't live up to it's hype for me is AK...I know, don't shoot me...but for some reason, it's just not a fav of ours....it's always 100 degrees warmer there, my kids are cranky, the animals are sleeping...idk...just not for us!

And OMG! I didn'tk now that One Man's Dream will be closed! I need to bring up the lists to see what's closed when I go, too!!!!!:scared1:
