Reimagine the Top of the World lounge

I have never been there before but the question I had was when you went there were you obligated to buy anything? How many people went there and spent as little as possible and just went for the view and to hangout. That all takes the place of people willing to pay for drinks and make money. So maybe a cover charge could help that issue (if it was an issue).
No, you didn’t. A lot of people went up and staid out side to watch the fireworks.

I went up several times when my kids were younger and just got soft drinks….

I wouldn’t recommend you buy a soda and hang out for hours though, but I don’t think they would throw you out either

After watching the recent DVC Show, which had some discussion of TOTWL and speculation about possible future paid events, I got to thinking that the lounge might be free for members (even those without a blue card) from opening until early evening, but they might then have paid fireworks dessert parties (or some similar offering) there at night.

I can never keep this straight. Currently, or rather before it shut down, TOTWL was open to all DVC members. But did you have to be staying on points in order to access it?

For example, if I, as a blue card member, am staying off property for some crazy reason can I still access the lounge?

Most nights it was open to all members (blue or white card) staying at a Disney owned and operated resort at WDW or Vero Beach. The stay could be cash or points. For NYE & July 4th, you had to be staying at BLT to access the TOTWL.

Me, too. I really just want to pop up to the deck to watch the fireworks. Would be nice to see them set up a drink cart (paid) on the deck with both alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages - like hot chocolate and lemonade.
Sounds a bit tacky.

I guess there is only one way to find out…
My daughter got married at WDW and had her reception at the Napa Room in the Contemporary, same floor as the California Grill. It was in December and the ceremony started at 5:30, so it was dark for most of the reception. They took pictures on the walkway outside the California Grill. The castle was in the pictures.

Soo, you’re saying if the TOW lounge was open for wedding she may have chosen it?

It would have depended on which restaurant did the catering. The Napa Room uses the California Grill kitchen so it was amazing.

She needed to have the goat cheese ravioili!

I figured we would hear something by now, figuring it might be open come July 3rd/4th. Does anyone remember last year when they announced the special opening for that?

Question- do you have to be staying at Bay Lake in order to enter the Lounge or can you stay at any DVC resort? In previous years, all we did was showed the blue card and was fine. I would love to go see the fireworks from there again.
