*Rehitching???*

Ok ~ what is this about and is it worth it? Does it cost extra?


DH, DD and I are going it WDW in 2/2004 and I would love yto suprise DH with this.....

he is especially an avid plat lover and I think they only offer this in the *plant*section of Epcot????

this is at the garden grill located in the land at epcot. there is no extra cost. it is a wedding ceremony conducted by the waitperson. sometimes, we never had been so lucky, mickey is one of the attendants. it is very short and really cute. you get to kiss to the count to the of 100, like this: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100!! you receive a marriage certificate signed by mickey and minnie. and sometimes a cake. once we got a cake, once we did not. when you make the dining PS for the garden grill be sure to tell the CM you want the rehitchin' ceremony. most likely they will not know what you are talking about, so make sure they do note it. and then when you check in at the restaurant, mention it again to the hostess/host. there is nothing embarassing about this and it is fun.

Just wanted to reinforce what Disney Queen said. Be sure to tell the CM when you make your PS that you want the re-hitch ceremony. When I did it the CM did not know what I was taking about. I asked her to please call the Garden Grill while I stayed on hold and check it out, She was back on the phone with me in a few minutes and said it was all set. I asked her for the phone number for the Garden Grill and called them myself a couple of weeks before we got there to confirm and was told that everything was all set. When we checked in for our PS I asked the CM at the front desk if the re-hitch was on our PS and was told no problem.
I quess the old adage that the squeeky wheel gets the oil is true. Not only did we have Mickey & Minnie at our re-hitch but Pluto and Chip & Dale also crashed the party. Mickey actually sat at the table with us.
I had no idea that we had recieved anything extra in our re-hitch until months later when I read some posts here on the DIS and discovered that some people didn't get any characters at their re-hitch or just Mickey, who stood next to them for a few minutes during the ceremony and then left. We just came back from Disney and one of the surprises that I had for my husband was the rehitching ceremony! This year is our 25th!

Anyway, I confirmed this before we left for Disney and I mentioned it to the hostess on checkin at the restaurant. I kept waiting for it to happen. It never did!


I mentioned it to the hostess on the way out, she said that I should have told the server. It was a surprise! I thought it had all be taken care of already.

Anyway, the meal was good!

We did this on our last trip. I never mentioned it when I made the PS but I did request it at checkin. I watched as the CM wrote on our name ticket that we wanted the rehitching ceremony and also wrote "secret" on it because I wanted to surprise my husband. The only slightly embarrassing part was that they came around asking very loudly, "Who's anniversary is it today?" I had no clue as it was not our anniversary. I just wanted to have it done for fun as this was where we did spend our honeymoon. I had to just go along with the "anniversary" part of it and my husband was looking at me quite strangely. Oh well...not the reaction was hoping for.

We did this with the ice cream social last June for our 25th. I asked when we made our PS, again when we checked in and then had to remind the server. It was really fun, and the kids got a kick out of it. The ice cream social was the perfect time, because there are not many people there and you can't beat the price and the interaction was great!
