Rehabbed Japan question -Teppan Edo

Hi.
DH LOVES sushi. But DD (2) won't eat it, and I'm not eating it while pregnant. So I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a table at one of the cooktops (Teppan Edo). If so, can DH order off the sushi menu, or is he required to order the hot food?
I think DD would love the cooking "on-stage". Otherwise, I'd just sit in on the sushi side (Tokyo Dining), since I know that we can get other hot food in there.

Hi, I just had a look at the menu on allearsnet and yep, you can get sushi at teppan edo so i'd say it would be worth going to, ive never been but ive got a ADR for feb!

Hmm. Well the sushi on the Teppan Edo menu looks to be a very limited few items, while the Tokyo Dining says "extensive menu." DH will want to order from that larger sushi menu based on what I heard on the DIS Unplugged podcast.

Does anyone know if they serve lunch and dinner? I see only one set of prices.

No personal experience, but the fine folks who run the Disney Podcast here (DIS Unplugged) attempted to order sushi off the larger sushi menu while at the teppanyaki side and were told by waitress AND manager that they could not do this, even with running a separate check.

Not sure if this has changed since their report from last week, but consider yourself warned.

See, that's what I was afraid of. I am trying to get time to listen to Kevin's review, it just hasn't happened yet.
I guess we will go with Tokyo Dining and eat tempura, or skip it altogether.
