Rehab Schedule. Bad news for March breakers

Look at this unbelieveable list of rides that'll be closed for rehab, the week of March 11! Things were looking good a month ago, with only 3 rides on this list, but now I find that 1/2 the park is closed! Why would they close 2 mountains at the same time? Isn't this March Break week for many?

Tarzan's Treehouse
Splash Mountain
King Arthur Carrousel
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Snow White's Scary Adventures
Sailing Ship Columbia
Pirates of the Caribbean
Space Mountain

This might be my first and last trip to DL. This is very disappointing....

Any chance for rescheduling? It sounds as if the loss of rides is going ruin your trip.

Easter week(s) are a couple weeks away from your trip, so I am sure they are pushing to have everything done for that time period.

We nearly always go outside of normal vacation times. The great thing is that the parks are more negotiable and there are great hotel deals to be had. The bad part is always the refurbishment list - it can get cumbersome.

We went early Feb...despite the refurbishments the parks were great. The crowds were light...the characters were out in force. We had great parade seating every time!

Good luck.

I completely understand your pain. My first and likely only trip to DL will be the same week - which is Spring Break for most of us in Texas. The Blue Bayou closure (restuarant) is actually the one that I am the most dissappointed in as San Angel Inn is my family's favorite restauarant at WDW. At this point, I am looking more forward to visiting California Adventure than DL. A part of me questions if this is not part of Disney's goal.

On a bright note, I am very happy that Indiana Jones and The Matterhorn - rides unique to DL - are scheduled to be open. We are also planning on doing many other things in the L.A. area - Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, Beach drive, Catalina Island, Movie Star Homes tour. I am determined to not let the ride closures ruin my trip...but will admit that we are now planning on spending less time at DL than we originally planned.

It really is a shame that so many attractions will be closed during our visits. Rumor has it that Splash Mountain will remain closed for some time, as they change the seating and install appropriate safety restraints.

I don't think you will be lacking for good restaurants. Downtown Disney and the resorts have some wonderful places, as does DCA. There is a new Mexican restaurant at Disneyland, and a new kid-oriented dinner show.

This is one of those cases when I should have waited a day before posting.... Yes I'm disappointed, but no, it's not going to spoil my vacation.

We've got a lot of fun planned, we're staying at the fabulous Grand Californian, and there's so much to see and do in Southern California. In fact, we'll have 7 days of fun, with only 3 days planned at DL/CA. Since I got the "3 for 2" passes, I guess I'm still getting my money's worth, and hopefully with a quieter park, we'll get on more rides overall (of what's open).

Hey TigerBear. We're also from Houston (Tomball area). We're flying into Ontario on Saturday, direct on Continental. I'm guessing there'll be a plane load of happy vacationers.

There. I feel better already!
Thanks all.

I'm going the 9-10 and I knew that Space Mountain and Pirates were going to be down, but this is even worse. Damnit, first the cheerleader competition and now this LOL Yikes...

So is Splash Mountain definitely going to be closed past the date it is supposed to open? That would be really disappointing if it is, b/c so many people go during the Spring Break season and that would be a ride for most would be a must-see.

I can't believe how many refurbishments they have scheduled so close to and during Spring Break!
