Does anyone know the current regulations regarding bringing your own golf cart to FW?
Do the tires have to be reg. golf cart tires or can they be grip tires like on the customized carts?
Headlights? Breaklights?

They do have to have headlights and taillights. If it is gas it needs to have a stock working muffler. Or at least a way to make it just as quite.

While I have not seen it in writing, it was explained to me that a personal cart must have all equipment that a rental cart has, i.e:

windshield
headlights
taillights

I have never heard of anyone having problems with larger tires or lift kits

I'm not sure what the exact regulations are but we did get an oragne sheet from the sheriff (yes it was either Orange County or Osceola sheriff) telling us about the golf cart regualtions. The golf cart we brought was raised up high (again not sure how high) and went faster than their regulations. Long story short. . . we were told it was not allowed and that it had to either sit in the overflow lot or take it home. We only live about 45 minutes away so DH took it home and came back.

How high and how fast inquiring minds want to know.

I haven't seen anything about this.I guess I need to find out about it before the next trip. We have headlights and a windsheild but no taillights. Before tha last trip I did put red reflective tape where they would be so we could be seen. No one has said anything to us about it but I haven't heard of this.

Here ya go!

How fast were you going ? and whats the sheriff go to do with it.---private property. Did disney call the sheriff ? or is your golf cart not a golf cart. Maybe you just caught the Rent A Sheriff in a bad mood?

The only carts I have heard of disney asking to leave was a cart that was speeding in the CG at over 40 mph that was the day with radar trap set up in the fort (August 2005). plus a guy trying to use a dune buggy as a golf cart. security was waiting for him at the cart parking area at the outpost bus stop (October 2007). I'am sure there are more. You see lifted carts there every day some so high you need a step to get onto. Also you see the GEM cars with and without tags that will do 35 MPH and the Yamaha and other brand side by sides at Disney and they can go over 50mph.

I think you caught the Rent A Sheriff in a bad mood with a chip on his shoulder. I would have asked to see the Fort Wilderness Rec Manager it's his call.

I'm pretty sure it was a Orange or Osceola county sheriff. He was coming out as we were pulling in. It was a pretty big golf cart and he said he would consider it an ATV (it is a golf cart). He was more concerned that if it hit someone it could really hurt someone. We didn't argue and just took it home. Now we just bring our regular golf cart which is lifted with grip tires and just fine.

We have the same thing, headlight and a windshield so we put reflectors on the back of it. If anyone is interested, we got the reflectors at the local bike shop and they told us that they have people doing that all the time. They also recommend the bike reflective tape.

I have read it a dozen times and missed it every one. I posted a minute or so ago that I still didn't see that requirement. I was looking for something that specifically said it needed these things,, DUH.. For anyone who did the same thing, the first sentence tells you ALL FLORIDA RULES OF THE ROAD APPLY. I feel like such a moron for overlooking that. Now I have to read over those Statutes ( yes I basically know them as a Florida driver but, a refresher never hurt anyone ).
