Regretting my choice of rooms this Oct.

I was hoping to have some family members join us on our upcoming trip. It looks like we may have a couple relatives joining us only for the first weekend. After that, I am stuck for several nights with a 2BR that I don't need. I would really love to switch to a 1BR, but at this point it's highly unlikely I'd even find one of the nights available.

From what I understand, I can't rent out the studio portion because the keys will work on both doors, right? Has anyone ever had this situation where they were able to program the keys separately?

I did this to myself, so I can't complain...but I'm still upset with myself.

Nope, they keys will work for both rooms. Plus they others will not be able to have charging privileges with their card if you have charging with your card.

Allow yourself the luxury of spreading out. It will feel so wonderful.

I'm in the same boat as you are. DFIL called yesterday and said that DMIL wasn't feeling up to making the trip and he may come or he may stay at home. So I am waiting for a phone call from him to confirm one way or the other. If he cancels, I am just going to call and see if there is a one bedroom somewhere, I'm not picky as long as I am at WDW. And if not, well, more room for us. Of course I have a 2 bdrm lock off confirmed and I don't think I'm comfortable with the kids sleeping in the second bedroom (studio) by themselves, so I will probably bunk in with them if it comes to that. I would prefer to save the extra points if it's possible.

Sounds like we will be traveling around the same time as you, early October.

I was able to get a 1BR last year for the first week of Oct at 1 weeks notice so be sure to call tomorrow and see what you can do so that if you get it points won't go into a holding account. As long as you are not fussy about which resort you want you will have better luck. Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

We have a 2BR lockoff for one night, then a 1BR for the rest of the week. We are hoping that we can just close off the studio and not have to move. Maybe you can make a similar arrangement.

You might be pleasantly surprised when you call MS. I just notice last weeek our 2 bdrm ressies for Oct were for a dedicated 2 bdrm when I needed a lock-off. I was able to change all but our first two nights.If you're already in a lock-off it might be possible just to downsize after the first weekend.

Call MS! I bet you could find a one bedroom still at WDW for that week. You never know until you call.

Thanks, everyone. I'll be on the phone in the morning. I'm sure it will be a busy day for MS after a long weekend, but hopefully they'll have some good news for me. It looks like our company will only be with us 2 out of the 11 nights I have the 2BR, so hopefully I can switch to a 1BR for at least part of the time. I don't mind changing rooms - I already have a switch over the weekend.

I figured anything is possible with the 30 day mark coming up this week. There are probably some folks dumping their reservations, right? I'll let you know what happens.

No luck today. There were a few 1BR nights at OKW and several at SSR, but the OKW ones would have broken up my stay too much and the SSR 1BR was not worth it point-wise since I have a stand. view 2BR. I'm on a wait list, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks!
