Regretting Making Reservation with Spirit Airlines.. Why Southwest is Better/Cheaper

I usually fly Spirit since I am only fifteen minutes away from ACY. I have always been able to sit with my family when checking in at the 24 hour mark and printing passes at home. If you can shove your carry on under the seat it is free and checking a bag is cheaper than paying for it so you can put it in the overhead. Spirit does have great sales sometimes. I'm not a Spirit fan but the AC airport is convenient.

you totally get what you pay for. my mother has their CC and prefers AC. with luggage fees we usually pay less than other airlines because we shop months in advance and have booked flights as low as $7. the last time i flew with them was 2 years ago but we flew with them once a year for a good few years in a row.

check the measurements on the website. you get one personal item to carry on board. my carry on bag can also be used for an overnight bag and was free last time i flew. it is a duffle style so can be tucked under a seat. those mini suitcase style ones are charged though. also if you bring a handbag just put it IN the smallish carry on bag, otherwise they may argue that you have 2 personal items. if you do not want to end up with the bag squished under a seat then don't bring it. people who pay for carry ons board first to ensure they get the space in the overhead cabins.

when i flew delta recently i did not feel like i had that much more room than on spirit. i certainly paid a lot more for my flight and they had just as many fees it felt like. they charged for food and seemed to hardly have any. we wanted these sleep packs they advertised as my friend forgot her mask and they had none on board. :confused3 other than the fee for the restroom (which i think would be challenged anyway in the US as it discriminates against those with medical conditions) i am ok with most fees from airlines. the philosophy of spirit is charge low tickets and let customers choose what they want to pay for. if only i could do this with my cable.

We almost always fly Southwest and the 2 free checked bags and the simple ability to change, rebook without penalty are the reasons why. I also feel its worth it to pay the $10 Early Bird fee.

And I always recommend that people book 2 one-way flights and not a round trip. With 2 one-way flights, if the price on one of the legs goes down, you can rebook it and get the credit. But if you book it as a roundtrip and one leg goes down, the other leg may have gone up, so you don't end up saving anything by rebooking.

Hope that makes sense to everyone. It's hard to explain.

CC is credit card, AC is Atlantic City...
yup. to better explain it, Atlantic City airport is so small they only have one or two luggage carousels. it makes flying really easy, we never have delays or problems there. presently they only have two airlines, so you do not have many choices if you want to fly out of it. if you are flying from a major hub then comparing flights/ airlines makes more sense.
