Although it is the last thing I'd want on my trip too, the only thing I can pass along is very long long ago my DH and I went to this beautiful island in the Caribbean, we only had one day on this particular island and when we got there it started to pour, rain even the resort people were concerned about. Thunder, lightening, wind, the works! Restaurants flooded - well, this turned out to be the BEST day we have ever had together. We wore big garbage bags that we sliced an opening in the end and wore them upside down. We slid down a dirt mountain road in a jeep with no top, we ate in a restaurant with water up to our ankles.
I can't explain it, maybe because we were so determined to have fun? It was cold, windy and wet. It became an adventure.
If you are determined to have a good time, what's a little water? You just go for it. Dress for it so you don't get cold and have a blast. You can get rain suits for about $14 dollars. If you can't find them in your local store, go on-line to motorcycle gear stores. They always have them, get the cheap ones, they work just fine. Just used them on a very wet trip to the cape with rain hitting us at 70mph and stayed warm and dry.
