Refurbishment Timeline Announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas!

I’ve been told that the top two floors are basically already done on the wing they closed down. It seems as if they’re almost opening entire wings/floors at once, but that may not be reliable info as I’m not there to ask myself.

I’m so impressed. They left all the great qualities rather than stripping everything. So many refurbs have been a disappointment but this one truly shines. I look forward to seeing it in person.

We just got our first peek at the refurbished Deluxe Studios at Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village, and wow… Disney Vacation Club knocked this one out of the savanna!

From a sleek new Murphy bed with gorgeous Lion King art to completely revamped bathrooms and fresh flooring, these studios blend modern comfort with authentic AKL charm.

Not sure how many have actually been completed but is it highly unlikely that they will be complete by their communicated date of May 2026 given the size of the resort?

It's a huge resort but they also shut down an entire wing of the resort to work on it all at once. They aren't having to work around guests like BLT so I wouldn't expect delays.

Here’s what stands out:

• Refreshed main bedroom with warm tones, new carpet, and updated wall textures
• Incredible themed artwork throughout—subtle Lion King nods and bold African patterns
• Updated Murphy bed reveals beautiful savanna artwork with Rafiki, Nala, Baby Simba, and Zazu under a moonlit sky
• Single pull-down sleeper with Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba snoozing under the stars
• Modernized bathrooms with vibrant tile, glass showers, and dual showerheads
• Enhanced kitchen appliances, backsplash, and Keurig combo coffee station
• USB/USB-C charging, smart TVs, and updated lighting fixtures

And yes—the beloved map art behind the Murphy bed in the living room is an instant fan-favorite. Honestly, the artwork alone is worth the visit, and we’re crossing our fingers Disney adds an art-on-demand kiosk to buy prints someday!

I’ve been watching the total numbers for sale per resort on dvcforless.com. AKL is either selling very well or people are delisting their contracts.

I saw someone post that Disney exercised ROFR on a 100 point contract they were trying to buy.

We're encouraged that they have already started offering some of the refurbished rooms to guests. That's a real positive sign of progress. And those first rooms were done in about 2 months? I have to believe they'll work out the logistics of opening and closing floors (and parking areas) and get these done by April/May - and then move on to Jambo House! But to our unprofessional eye, the first phase of refurb was relatively easy by closing half the rooms and utilizing half the underground parking for construction. It'll get more complicated as they open rooms and try to get equipment and supplies to the northern wing of the resort.

I hope the flow of new/refurbed rooms continues at a good rate for guests!!

I’m very impressed they left the small table with TWO chairs and the armoire closet in the studios. ETA: AND THE CEILING FAN!! I hope they do the same at Jambo. The refurbishments here, BLT, and the lobby at GFV are creating so much excitement for future trips for me. I wish I could add a week next year! 37 days until I check in at GFV

You've got like 2 weeks to get under contract before the new fee comes into play!
