Refurbishment Timeline Announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas!

Just booked a July visit at Kidani. First time to stay at this resort and excited we will get a refurbished room!

Hello.. We are thinking about staying at Kidani next summer. We are going to have 4 adults and 3 children. Does anyone know if the 2 bedroom villa will have the Murphy bed and the twin pull down in the living room

Thanks and any other 2 bedroom recommendations would be appreciated too

No one knows for sure as I don't know that Disney has stated they will be there but we are certainly assuming that they will be as since they started hard goods refurbs at SSR and then even soft goods refurbs at PVB they have added the Murphy beds.

There is currently a twin sleeper in the living room but unfortunately I believe that will be on the way out and replaced with the twin under the TV like they have done over at BLT.

With 7 people I would certainly want Kidani or BLT to have 3 full bathrooms in a two bedroom.

I would assume so but until we start to see refurbished rooms released for guest check-ins there's no way to be certain.

Considering how difficult those rooms are to get, hopefully the only effect is that fewer people book them just to rent them out.
So for me the value of owning at akv vs ssr or other sap is the ability to try to book value/concierge rooms. Besides these two categories there’s rarely a need to own at akv as plenty of 7 month availability. As such I expect the change to negatively impact value of akv resale.

I mean with new point charts there’s now some seasons where standard 2br is only 1 point a night more then the value. This means it’s actually cheaper and easier to use ssr points to book standard 2br then it is to book value with akv points.

The same can be said for a lot of resorts, honestly unless you want the cheapest studios you can pretty much get in wherever you want at 7 months, most of the time.

I agree and simply am saying for those resorts as well if the point chart adjusts to balance demand from high value room categories to lower ones the resale values of those resorts will go down as well imo. Obvious ones to me being boardwalk and blt.

I think it's a fair point that people who hold AKV points simply to book value/club rooms may feel the need to sell now. The last time I was staying club I met a lady who owned I think 50 points at AKV just for club rooms from time to time. I'm not sure how many people there are like that. Time will tell, I suppose.

So in my specific case I have akv points to use all over as SAP with the occasional akv stay when I get value rooms. The only reason I was willing to pay slightly more up front and higher dues vs ssr is for these value rooms.

I don’t think this change will make the rooms any easier to book because studio still are a great value. However that means we lose the benefit of the previous even better value and get nothing comparable in return as still will be walked 11 months a year. They did increase the legal maximum so maybe they do it again next year but my point would be if they increase the point charts of these rooms until they are no longer high demand, akv ownership loses its primary value to me. Im even more worried if this sets precedent as I also own at bwv again with sole purpose of booking the great value standard room category and those points I only ever use bwv.

I feel like the better thing for DVC to do would have been to put an end to commercial renting rather than increase the points, but they chose the easier route I suppose.

Oh I cannot wait to see the first renovated rooms.
I guess for next week I can hold out hope the refurb adds a 5th sleeper to standard/savanah studios. This would definitely help demand wise imo as I’d book those in heart beat with my 3 kids ages 4 to 8 over 2x value studio or 2br value lol.
