I have shattered the screen on my phone and need to buy a new one. I am with tmobile and they don't offer a deal for extending contracts or anything so you pay full price for the phone. I do not want to pay $600 for a phone.

I am considering buying a refurbished at a lower cost and am wondering what your experience has been.

Can anyone share?

Can you not get a replacement screen? Here, even an iPhone 5 would be about $130, other phones would range from $50 up. I have done it and know others that have and nobody has had any issues

I've never had a problem with refurbished electronics from known providers (direct from manufacturer is my preferred way of obtaining refurbs).

That said, most malls these days have kiosks to replace broken cell phone screens, don't they? I've replaced phone screens for friends on several different iPhone models, more than a few Galaxy 3s and 4s, and a few others too and it's usually not horribly complicated or expensive.
