Refunds?

Does anyone know if American Airlines will give refunds on the tickets? We have tickets for October 16th and do not think we will be flying. Please tell me if anyone has received a refund on their ticket. Thanks for all your help. Is anyone else putting a hold on their vacations untill we see where all this is going? dizlover5

We were going in 3 days, flying out of Boston on UsAir but have decided not to go as UsAir has given us the option of a full refund. Logan Airport in Boston is only operating a few flights at last glance and my husband and I have decided not to try and reschedule even after planning for 10 months and the great rate of $169 per night at the Poly. After things calm down (hopefully) in a few months , we will try and plan another trip.

Your best bet would be to call them directly and ask. I wouldn't count on it, though. I think that October 16th is pretty far out (a month from today) and I would be verysurprised that the airlines will give you a refund. If you're lucky, they'll allow you to reschedule without penalty. The airlines are taking a beating in the stock market right now, many of them are down 30-50% from Monday's closing. While customer service is important, the bottom line for any business is money, especially one which is stuggling like the airlines are.

Their current policy does not provide for refunds if you have non-refundable tickets for travel after September 18, 2001. It is possible that they will change their policy as some of the other airlines have less restrictive provisions. Keep checking their site for the latest information and good luck to you.
