We have 2 from the last Cruise and several from trips to WDW over the years....I have read here that soda is now available at the beverage station on ship and was wondering if anyone has packed their mugs and found them to be worth it???? Take them or leave them at home and use whatever cups are provided at the station????

We're packing mugs for the adults and sippies for the kids; I like a nice refillable, reusable cup. :)

We have the refillable mugs. If I had remembered to pack them I would have taken them :( Since it is an insulated-type of mug it would help keep the drinks colder a bit longer. HTH

I recently read on this board that there's a DCL insulated mug just like the refillable ones at the park that's only $3. Can anyone confirm this?

I have the mugs from past cruises but find they do not hold much at all.

I love a lot of ice and with those mugs that leaves very little room for beverage.

I have found that the Dunkin Donuts plastic cups that you get when you order an iced coffee work great.....I have been reusing them all summer long. They are very sturdy and hold a ton of ice plus a full can of soda...what is that 12 oz. or something?

I plan on bringing some of those and those long straws to sip my soda by the pool!!! At the end of the cruise I can toss them.

DVCajun - I just got off the Wonder today. I can confirm that the refillable mugs were for sale for $3 - they are the same as in the park (although they do have boat theme on them - they don't say DCL). We purchased some refillables at Beach Club for $11.90.

The soda station does have plenty of cups, lids and straws - all for free.

Welcome home, Cathy! Thanks for the info.

Were the cups available at the beverage station very small?

We brought a tall cup with built in straw (like you get in the parks when you buy the "souvenir" drinks) and the ship's mug for $3.00. The taller one was great to fill with ice and put in the box and we would fill the mug with just soda, and then use the glasses in the room to make drinks with ice.

They do have paper cups with lids available on Deck 9 also at the drink station. They are a small cup though.

on the 9/2 Wonder.

The first one I got from a "vendor" near the Mickey pool ... it had a Castaway Cay theme and cost $3.45 ... I think they added the 18% gratuity.

Then I got a DCL mug at Mickey's Mates ... it was $4.00.

You could get paper cups, lids and straws at the beverage station ... but I was worried about the cup getting soft, squishing it and making a mess.

Next time though, I think I'll pack my refillable mug from Blizzard Beach ... it's bigger than the resort/DCL refillable mugs.

since we like "large" quantities of drinks (and not small itty bitty cups) we plan on taking our own insulated cups (with lids) on our upcoming cruises. Hopefully it will reduce the # of trips we have to make to the deck 9 drink station. :)
