Refillable mugs

I'll be on my third trip to WDW in 12 days! Second solo trip!!!!

Tell me about these refillable mugs I've seen. I did not purchase a dining plan. I don't understand how they work. Say I purchased one in March (yes just 3 short months ago!!) when I was last in Disney world. Is it "valid" my next trip (in 12 days)?

Since they're only valid at the resorts, how does Disney "supervise" the valid dates? Overall I'm just confused!

Whether you purchase a mug or have one included in your dining plan, they are "activated" with purchase and are only good for 14 days. Another words, there is some kind of scanning feature when you put the mug under the fountain drink dispenser that it recognizes and allows for the dispenser to dispense the drink for a properly activated mug. So, any prior mugs from other trips cannot be used. Enjoy your trip!
