In case you actually do not know, you would need to buy new cups whether they were the new generic cups or not, since while the new ones are good at ANY resort during the length of stay of the stay in which you purchased them, they are ONLY good during that length of stay.

This isn't entirely true. You can continue to use them as long as you want to. Even in the parks.
You just can't refill them for free.
