Any one still using mugs they purchased back when they were advertised as "good for life"? These were a good value for folks returning to the same resorts. We purchase drinks at Wal-Mart or a grocery store and keep in a cooler in our room; so, the new policy doesn't pay for itself unless its a very long stay.

We got mugs about 8 years ago from Carribean Beach. they held up well and although I haven't brought them back on subsequent trips- I know they were "good for life" at the time of purchase. Bring the old ones along and have a free refill for me !

The WL mugs we bought in 2001 that are "good for life" are packed and ready to go in SEVEN HOURS! Not sure if I'll be using them first at Pop - I'll wait to see if I see anyone else using a mug from another resort first. May buy new mug at BWV later in the week.

We bought mugs at the Polynesian in 1997 and they were already posting then that they were only good for that trip at that resort. Since that time, a few CMs have told guests that they could bring them back on future trips, but Disney's policy always was that the mugs were only good for the trip they were purchased for and at that resort only.

Mugs have never been "good for life" unless your life was the life of the trip you bought them on.

I enjoy drinking soda. Even though we didn't spend a ton of time at CBR's Old Port Royale, in my 7 days there I had to have just 6 sodas ($2 each, if purchased separately) to make the $11.99 mug purchase worthwhile. If I didn;t accomplish that by the end of Day 1, I certainly did it by the end of Day 2.

You can have my mugs when you pry them from my cold dead hands. :)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The only mugs I have ever re-used are the Contemporary mugs that have stayed the same design for the past few years. Yes, I am sure I am going to hell..but I just couldn't help it...I wanted to re-use those suckers atleast once. :bitelip:

Maybe we have just never been "caught" but we have some old mugs from POR that say Dixie Landings on it. We still use these and have never had a problem. We also have some out of date All Star Resort ones that we still use from time to time. My favorite mug that I have is from Fort Wilderness and I have used it at all of the All Star Resorts, Pop, CB, POR and POFQ. I say bring them along if you can. It never hurts to try :tink:

Uh Oh, another one of the infamous mug threads. Time to get out the popcorn.

I get the biggest kick out of the mug posts. :sunny:

Ok. We were staying at the Poly earlier this month for a few nights. We walk into Capt. Cooks one night after Wishes and there is a man with 3 mugs from different resorts (I took notice) the WL, Pop and PO. as he was filling each one up, the woman in front of me, gets off the line (about 5 people) and goes over to a manager and points out this man using the different mugs. The manager asks the woman if she is having a good time, she answers yes, and he said to her, that is all that matters.
I was wondering if this was a mug police from DIS. I will probably never know.

LOL, I'll bet you it was a member of the mug patrol from the DIS. Geez, doesn't anyone have anything more important to do. Clearly these people live a truly sheltered existance if reusing a mug is their biggest concern while on vacation. sheesh...

I have my flame proof suit on now :firefight

That story is so funny! :lmao: The manager handled that classic "kindergarten behavior" so well! I get tattles all day as a kindergarten teacher. It comes with the job. How funny to actually witness it from another adult! I guess she felt compelled to turn that person in.

It's a shame that she didn't choose to rise above it. ;)

My only thoughts on reusing mugs on future trips is that if I need to save money that badly, then I shouldn't be going to WDW for vacation. Other than that, if you choose to reuse old mugs, go ahead, won't bother me in the least. :firefight

I have reused my mugs at WL before. I almost like to "forget" ;) my mugs at home so my fiance will let me buy two more to add to our collection. I figure they are a great relativly inexpensive, useful suvenier. Plus we love to use them at home when we are away from WDW so you can never have too many. Right? :)

I think Diseny is making 'self-destructing' mugs now - the ones we got our last two trips have either leaked badly by the end of a week long trip, or the lid has broken/cracked. Maybe that's their plan for mug-reusers? :lmao:

I agree! One of the cheapest souvenirs you can bring home. I have Poly, Dixie Landings, Animal Kingdom and Saratoga Springs mugs and I take one filled with coffee to work with me every morning. I get my Disney fix every day. And with different mugs each morning, my mind wanders to that resort with each sip!

Well as often as we go, if the design hasn't changed I use the old ones. Otherwise I'd have something like 30 mugs from only 3 resorts! My kitchen isn't big enough for all those plus who wants 15 mugs of the exact same design?

:drinking1 Here I will share drinks if you share the popcorn...this should get interesting...

It's amazing the lengths some people will go to to rationalize their self-motivated behavior. :rotfl:
