Refillable Mugs-The "good for life" ones

I am pretty sure that the mugs are good for the current stay only at the resort they were purchased. Following the rules does not make one a member of the "Mug Police", it makes one a good person. These same people that take advantage of this system will be the same ones that will complain how "Cheap and Corporate Disney is Becomming" when they eventually do away with the entire refill process.

OMG - I love the mug threads! I will, however, have to admit a dirty little secret - DH and I have never bought and don't use mugs! (Well, I did buy one at the GF just because it had Alice on it and then I never filled it up again - I forgot!)

Pass the popcorn please. :drinking1 I'm making cosmos over here - in my Alice mug ;) - if anyone would like one.

The only problem with this is that there are old mugs out there that were purchased at a time when they were good for refills for life. I have 3 from DxL that are 'good forever'. Have I taken them back on my 3 subsequent trips to POR (prev. DxL)? No...I just can't be bothered lugging 3 of those puppies back to WDW with me. I now have almost 20 of them...duplicates of some resorts even. I think I have 6 from POR (3 DxL and 3 POR). The only time I have ever reused one was when I stayed for one night at POP..I did bring my mug back that I had bought there about 3 months previously. I was 'cheating' I will admit...it was good for the stay in which I bought it, and only at POP. Going back to POP in May and I won't be bringing them back then...all new ones. My current one is getting a bit 'used' from everyday coffee!!!

Mug police?? I couldn't care less. Do what you are comfortable with. It really doesn't impact me at all. Now, if you're staying at POP and hop on over to the BW pool....that is going to irk me a bit! :thumbsup2

There's actually no such thing as "for life" in commercial transactions like mug purchases. [UCC 2-309(2): "Where the contract provides for successive performances but is indefinite in duration it is valid for a reasonable time but unless otherwise agreed may be terminated at any time by either party."]

:rotfl2: I'm going out now to buy a new suitcase to haul our 20 some odd mugs back next trip (I love that extra luggage!). Since we have a few from about 5 different resorts-should we stop at each when we get thirsty?? Pass me one of those Cosmos :stir:

Any one still using mugs they purchased back when they were advertised as "good for life"? These were a good value for folks returning to the same resorts. We purchase drinks at Wal-Mart or a grocery store and keep in a cooler in our room; so, the new policy doesn't pay for itself unless its a very long stay.

Does anyone have a picture of a sign that said the mug was good for life? I'm curious if that policy was every officially posted or if it's just an urban legend.

Don't waste that much luggage space, just bring the mugs for the resort that have pools worth hopping to.:stir:

And at 9:30am, no less. ;) Well, it IS Friday.

There has never been any picture of any such sign posted on the forums. In the past, it simply wasn't specified how long the mugs were good for, i.e., the offer was "indefinite in duration".

Disney put it away with the sign for the Magic Bag. It is a plot to get all who reuse them tresspassed. :teeth:

There's nothing wrong with re-using a mug from a previous visit as long as you're pool hopping and reserving multiple pool lounge chairs with towels, then it's ok. "If you're going to be a bear, might as well be a Grizzly", as the old saying goes. :stir:

There's nothing more refreshing than using a 10 year old "Dixie Landings" mug at the Polynesian when my family is pool hopping because our offsite motel pool is broken. The best part about pool hopping at the Poly is when the kids get hungry, I tell them to wait by that Hawaii building. When the door opens and guests walk out, for them to walk in and help themselves to all the free snacks that are there for the taking. When they go to get them, I'm always saying "bring something back for daddy and no Goldfish crackers either!" :rolleyes1

It's a fun game for them and they learn how to work the system at an early age. I'm always telling them "Hey just because you're 8 years old doesn't mean the world is going to give you a break"! "Now stop your crying and go refill your mom's 1988 CBR mug". I tell you, kids today and all this "follow the rules stuff" that the schools are teaching them nowdays. :furious:

Thank you for letting me vent and getting that off my chest. :smokin:

Eddie. :stir:
