We visited SSR in January and yes you can buy the refillable mugs. The resort has one large common area off of the lobby that combines the gift shop, grocery and food service. All of the food we had was really good. We had pizza one night for dinner, and waffles and breakfast croissants for breakfast! No complaints from our end. The mugs are refillable inside Artist Palette or there is a refill station down by the pool also. Have fun!
ChEBJO- Thanks for the info! It sounds great! We love having a place to get a quick meal. We can't wait! Do you know how late the food area stays open?
The mugs were hard to find. I remember them being in a little stand by the cash registers on a second shelf. Maybe they didn't replenish them when we were trying to find them.
Also as of last December they weren't resort specific. Meaning they didn't have any reference to SSR on them and just had a generic design.
I wish they would come out with not only the resort specific mug but also one of those big 64oz refillable ones they have at Coronado so I could have a water mug at home.
If they are not resort specific, does this now mean that if we purchase one in 2006 we can refill at any resort during the year? I was just wondering because I remeber at a time they had the resort with the color that was good for that resort and that year. Otherwise if they are all the same then how would they keep track of where it was bought and where it is filled?
I would never cheat the system, I was just wondering if they changed the system to make us able to use them at any resort.
The SSR mugs have a beach scene with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto- they say DVC on them, as well as the year.
When I stayed at SSR last April, the mugs were on a shelf near the queue to order food in Artists Palatte, they were hard to miss, and when I took 5, a CM came out and replenished them before I even reached the register to pay for them.
Yes, the pool bar mug station is very convenient. It was great because the kids spent alot of time at Community Hall and they could refill their mugs at the pool bar. Hot Cocoa and Coffee is only available at Ap though.
The pool bar station closes when the pool bar closes.
The DVC mug that I got at SSR in Oct had a fall scene on it. They were also selling a generic 50th anniversary design so I have no idea how they can keep track of when you bought it.
Also Artist Pallette was selling one design and the pool bar was selling another. The self serve fountain drinks at the pool bar were very handy.
I was just at SSR a couple of weeks ago-the mugs were Chip and Dale and a bunch of acorns. There was no year on them. They were located right before you enter the order line at Artist Pallett on a display.
I have so many of these mugs-I am willing to pay the refill price and just reuse my old mugs. I asked the girl at the counter but she didn't seem to understand what I was saying!
How about a rubber wrist band-so you can refill w/ whatever mug you want. I remember on the cruise when they stopped the mug program they put "Coca-Cola" stickers on the room key. I would go for that.
If we're splitting our stay, do you think we need to buy new mugs at the second resort (SSR, then on to Beach Club). It's not a big deal, but as the official Trip Planner, I want to make sure I have everything organized. I would hate to have one of my parents busted for using their SSR mug at BCV!
