I saw many many refillable mugs listed on Ebay. I was very torn.....Does it not say somewhere you can't use them again, If they are really yours and you purcahsed them on a previous trip can you re-use them on your next trip if you are staying at the same resort? We have never stayed at the same resort so this would not work for us but I have never quite understood the "rules". In the past we have always purchased 2 of the mugs for DH and DD. I drink bottled H2O and DS only drinks juice which is not a choice. I am curious as to other peoples thoughts in this matter and if anyone knows "the Rules" about re-fillable mugs at the resorts. Oh, there is no place you can re-fill at the parks is there? Is there a park refillable mug available? Thanks again,

Disney's official stance on this is that refillable mugs are only for the resort you purchased them at for the duration of your trip and they have started posting signs to that effect.

However, many CMs still say you can use them on future trips and many people who bought them years ago (when just about all CMs gave this answer) will still bring them back.

Until Disney CMs all start giving the same answer, this will be a big debate. I know as of two years ago, if you called Guest Relations, they would tell you if you were returning to the same resort, you could bring the mugs back.

However, with the signs up, I guess the policy is clear even if the CMs give the incorrect information.

If the search function is working (will work during slower use times), type in mugs and you will see there have been many, many, many debates about mugs. We all have our opinions and have a right to them. The policy is...you can use your refillable mug for your current stay only. Now, many CMs and managers at resorts will allow you to re-use them and even resort hop with them...So your predicament would be whether you would opt to just follow the posted rules no matter what anyone said OR if a CM/manager told you it was ok then you would assume it was okay even when it is posted otherwise. It is really a matter of what your own conscience allows you to do. For me, I would follow the posted rules no matter what. But that's me. Other folks will do things differently and unless Disney sees fit to strictly enforce the policy, then I have no place to complain or get angry.

Hope this helps. Oh, and no they don't have a refill program in the parks. At the waterparks, they do.

I just purchased mugs at AKL & Contemporary in June. This is printed on the side of the mug:

Free refills until the end of your stay.

Refills only at location purchased.

I think that should sum it up - mugs are good for only 1 trip.

Thanks so much for the info. We will be buying 2 mugs at POR this August, When we are done they will go in the cabinet with our mugs from Poly and Yand B club. Thanks again.

Could just be me but I wouldn't feel comfortable about using someone else's mug. Who knows what has been in it?
I prefer to buy new mugs each resort stay anyways. I like to collect them.

::yes:: Me too. I take them to work and use them- I have quite a fine collection going! Let's see- WL, ASM (two), CR, CSR. Didn't get any at the BWV as we had a 2-bedroom. Looking forward to AKL and CR mugs this January.
The program had just started when we got our WL mugs- they were $5 and refills were a quarter!

Besides a matter of ethics, I just cannot imagine drinking out of a cup that has been who knows where - yuck!

I cannot believe people sell their used resort mugs on ebay...

Worse than that, I can't believe people will actually BUY them off of EBAY!!!!!

I can't believe that either. I would think that by the time you pay shipping and handling....it wouldn't be worth it.
There are so many other ways to save money for the trip.

People should refuse to buy these on ebay to stop the madness.

I wouldn't buy them or sell them on eBay..but I found this interesting. I use someone else's glass everytime I eat out in a restaurant LOL! Some water and 10% clorox, and anything that had been in that cup is history. Heck I sleep at Disney using the bedspread (and maybe even the blanket) 10 people before me used, I potty in the toilet a few thousand before me used, I swim in the pool with who know's what, and walk in bare feet all around the pool (and sometimes in my room) on who knows what from other's shoes. And then I go into the parks, and use the handles that (yuck) I really have no idea if the person before me itched a scratch, pulled a boogie or what on LOL.

What Kylara said, works for me.

Thanks Rick for those "colorful" descriptions!!!!! LOL :jester:
Kinda puts things in perspective!!!! I'm not a germaphobe (sp?) but we always carry Purell in the parks to have for those "ewwwww" emergencies!!!!:crazy2:

We love all our different mugs. My husband uses them every morning on his 5:15 am drive to work. leaves them in the truck all week and we have a dishwasher full on Sat to do when he cleans out the truck. I know......eeeewwww!!! :earseek:

ONe thing I wish they would do though....Have a mug for Annual passport holders. they could charge a little more and it should be good for your whole year.

Regardless of what WDW's policy is on if you can bring them back or not, I'm sure we can all agree that buying/selling on E-Bay is not the intent of the program.

Now that they are printing the "rules" on the sides of the mugs, I think we'll be seeing more enforcement.

I assume the mugs are plastic. Although I don't think twice about buying used glass (and sometimes ceramic) food items as long as they are not chipped or cracked because I know they can be disinfected well with the H2O & bleach combination mentioned earlier, plastic is more permeable. If someone used a mug to store something like gasoline or garden chemicals, I wouldn't want to risk using it for a drink even after soaking it in a disinfecting solution for a week. I've seen how food acids can easily become embedded in plastic and won't come out no matter how many times they're cleaned so I imagine other chemicals would do the same even if they aren't as visible.

As I stated earlier in this thread we were just at POFQ and they didnt enforce anything. Plain cups, other resort cups, an IAMS cup etc...one family each member had a cup from a different resort.

Again..I really feel that many on here worry more about it then Disney does.

I couldn't agree more!!!

The CM who I asked at POR told me they will never stop you from using an old mug. I will bring my mugs the next time I stay at POR. I have no problem with this, morally, ethically or otherwise!!!:p
