refillable mug questions

I know this has been answered on here somewhere. We've always been on a dining plan. We are not getting that this time. So my question is is it worth it to buy a refillable mug for ALL five family members? Does it just depend on how much we use them? My husband and I drink coffee every morning. Then we mainly drink water rest of day. My kids might drink 1-2 soft drinks a day on vacation. I know the three previous times we were in a resort, we were in the qs area of the resort at least once a day for a meal. And what is the price for each mug if you're not on a dp? And I do remember we didn't usually carry the mugs into the parks with us just bc they took up so much room in the backpack. We usually packed water for parks. This just isn't a decision I want to attempt to make after almost a 20 hr road trip and cranky, hungry people eyeballing me waiting on supper. Thoughts, experiences, opinions....tia

We don't bother with the mugs, it's mostly too big of a hassle to refill them. The mugs are 20 bucks now, do you think your party will drink 100 dollars worth of soda? Not likely.

They hold 16oz of liquid, so by the time you put ice in them, you maybe get 8 to 10 oz of actual soda. We just have cans delivered to the room via Amazon Prime and use the fridge to keep them cold. Not to mention we either have to go down to the pool at BLT to refill them, or walk all the way to Contempo Cafe to use them. I'm not wasting 20 minutes round trip to drink 10 oz of soda.

Now if they had freestyle machines setup around the resorts, or the mug was larger, I might reconsider it, but I don't care for those mugs at all.

I guess you could make the price work out if you're eating 1-2 meals a day at resort QS and drink soda with each meal. I just hate carrying the dang things around.

Family of four and my kids don’t drink much soda but we might buy two. DW and I use them for coffee in the morning and give them a quick wash and the kids might use them for soda if we’re back at the resort later.

Doing the math in our case it can save a little bit of money. But I’ve also just not had them because it is kind of a pain for relatively small savings.

Obviously if you use them 3 or 4 times a day they can be well worth the money.

We gave up mugs just for that reason. Maybe if we had room within a few hundred feet of dispenser, we'd think different but some of the rooms are sooooooo far away.

makes sense! thank you! We will probably skip the mugs. I was leaning towards not buying them. Just checking though

yes, and bc our rm will be a good walking distance it doesn't seem worth it. thanks!

Not worth it to us as we usually try to avoid the food courts except for once per trip. I have no desire to truck to the food court when resting for a drink. I can't imagine the food court coffee is any better than what is in the rooms. My DS who drinks coffee won't have either so he gets a cup of Joffreys as soon as we arrive at parks.

We bring case of water and couple cases of soda ... fill the fridge. It's right there when you want it, to take to parks or take to food court.

Note - we usually make sure we eat just before we arrive on property to save that first $50 ... it more than covers our snacks and drinks in the room.

For me totally depends on where I am. I stayed at the Rivera and totally got one as they have the nice new refill machines and everything is in the same building. One location, no massive walks to refill. I'll be staying at AKL next trip and will again get one.

As for your family, I would only buy two. one for Soda and one for coffee. They are refillable and shareable. So with two people drinking off one mug then would totally be able to make it worth the money. The new ones they have of the skyliner are more but larger and a great souviner

Do you happen to know the cost of the new skyliner mug? Those are nice.
