Refillable mug question (no not THAT question!)

I've never bought the refillable mugs before and just wondered how it works. Are the refills FREE, or just discounted? What beverages can you get, or do the offerings vary from one resort to another? I know there are conflicting opinions about wether or not you can re-use a mug on later visits, so let's not go there! :o

Thanks!

Sue

At most resorts the refills are free (they may all be now, not sure). There are limited places to get them refilled at that resort though, so that's something to consider. You can always get soda, coffee, and tea. The offerings seem to vary resort to resort.

I think they are a pretty good deal even if you don't drink a lot fo soda. They make a good travel mug for the morning commute when you get home--constant memories of your trip :) They're a pretty inexpensive, and actually useful souvie for the kids as well. :)

I think the DVC resorts charge a minimum price for refill's, but the reasoning for that was they would be bringing them back to much. If the policy has changed, perhaps the price has changed as well.

All Stars are free refills on soda and coffee/tea. Absolutely worth every single cent if you have soda or coffee drinkers in your party. We used them at least a couple times every day.

What about at BCV? Anyone know if refills are free or just discounted?

From my experiences refills are free everywhere except Old Key West. They were free at Wilderness Lodge in April, Free at Beach Club in June and Free at Boardwalk in July. OKW was the only one with a fee--don't remember how much. The mug is a bit less as well, again I don't remember how much since we didn't get them. We rarely purchase them as it is not a real convienience when staying in the villas to go to the limited places that refill them. It has been easier for us to fill the fridge with water and soda and take them in a samll cooer to the pool if we plan to saty for a n extended period of time.

I seem to remember something about a different kind of mug that offered frozen drinks, alcoholic and non, for a special price and refills were a little less. The mug was 4 oz. bigger though. Sorry I can't remember where those details were! It was talking about BCV though.

??? I think we buy at least one every trip. We were at OKW in May and refills, as they have been previously on our trips, were free. Also the cup seemed to hold about the same as the other resorts. We spent several days at BCV on that same trip, and refills were free there, too.

One thing I noticed is that some of the resorts (hopefully all) have started using cups which can fit in a drink holder in most cars. We like them as souvenirs, as well as to get refills of drinks, but tend to not use the ones which don't fit in the cars' drink holders as much as the ones that do.
