Referral gifts?

We recommended Dvc to our friends. They bought directly from Disney. They were told that we would get a thank you gift from Disney. We never got anything. Last year my daughter and sil bought Dvc from Disney. They were again told we would get a thank you gift for referring them. We never got anything. They bought several hundred points. Has anyone gotten a referral gift?

I think the Dream it Forward referral program ended about this time last year.

The dream it forward program is still in effect. You need to submit your friends name, on the DVC website before they buy in order to be eligible for the gift.

The referral program has a list of disclaimers, which are actually quite vague. Among them is the new buyer must mention the owner at the very first point of contact. Also, referring members living in many states are ineligible for rewards. It's due to laws in those specific states prohibiting any sort of reward in conjunction with a timeshare purchase. When DVC had a referral program in the 2000s, there was a rather extensive list of about 20 states where owners could not receive any bonus.

OP: It's worth a phone call to DVC. But simplest explanation may be that you live in an ineligible area.

I remembered that something changed last year. The buyers used to get something. That part ended.

We received a $150 Disney dining gift card. I passed along the referral link, and the buyer made first contact to my guide with that. They were resale owners adding direct for the first time and were encouraged by an extra $500 discount it brought at that time (and props to my guide too because he is very knowledgeable and responsive).

I think it was only one card per 365 day period? My state of residence is NJ. Not sure on the buyer.

Some owners can not receive the referral bonus based on laws in their states. There is a spot in the website where it shows the names of people whom you referred and if they have bought…

If you see their names there, but it says they didn’t buy, contact your guide and have him/her check on it.
