Referral "gift" question

I once referred a co-worker who purchased DVC. At that time (I think it was 3 years ago) she received a $500 visa gift card, and we received $200 off our dues (that was our choice on how to use it).

What, if any, is the current gift to new members with a referral, and to us as the referring members?

The $500 gift card to a new purchaser referred by a member is a promotion that is currently running with respect to several of the DVCs that are being sold now, but not all of them. Look for the Sticky post on the DVC boards which has the information.

The Sharing the magic reward for the referring member is the same as always. For each referral within a one year period, you get $200 for the first referral, $350 for the second, $500 for the third and I don't recall if it goes to $750 and then a $1,000 or straight to a thousand after that. The reward levels are listed somewhere on the DVC member site.

That's interesting. I didn't realize the referring member gets a gift. I can remember I read it somewhere (may be in the membership materials) that Disney does not gift the referring member, so it is proof to the buying member that current members refer new members truly due to their love for DVC, not because they are going after some reward.

And I know one of the friends I referred actually bought (I got a thank you letter from Disney). But no referral gift. This may have been 5 years ago.

I used my friends as a referral this past June when we joined and they also received $200 gift. They didn't even know we were thinking of buying in, but from reading these boards I knew it was a good idea to give Disney their name. They were very surprised and pleased. Sorry hollis that you didn't receive anything, maybe that has been a change since 5 years ago?

It depends on your state of residence. Some states don't allow gifts for referring members. I found this out when I used my brother-in-law for a referral -- he's in Michigan, and they don't get a gift.
