I made all of our reservations for the Free Dining as soon as I booked. There were going to be 8 of us. Unfortunately, my MIL who just a couple of months ago had knee surgery just took a tumble the other day and has been in alot of pain since then. She had an MRI yesterday and will find out on Monday how bad it is and wether or not she will be needing any further surgeries, but she has a feeling that she will have to back out of our trip from Sept 29th to the 30th. If she cancels her reservation with FIL, then my SIL will cancel her reservation also. Which will only leave me, DH, and our two boys. Which isn't too big of a problem, but all of our reservations are for 8 people. Has anyone ever had to drop the number of people for a reservation? Will Disney Dining be able to help me with this without having to cancel all of my ADR's and make new ones. There's no way I'll be able to get as good of times as I have now.

From what I've read over time, when a change involves a different sized table, as yours does, they give you new ressies.

You might be able to talk them into booking the four top before dropping. Good luck and pixie dust.

I had to do exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago. In most cases you will have to book a new reservation. We made new reservations for 4 and then cancelled the old ones. The only thing I didn't get changed was Le Cellier. I kept my table for 8 in this case and will ask 4 strangers to dine with us if I have to.

I had to made new ones to go from 4 people to 5 (probably because of the size of the table). Our Le Cellier I am not changing, though (couldn't get a table for 5). My DH and I are going to go alone now. They will just have to seat us at a 4 person table.

Mid June I called to add a person and had to cancel and rebook them all, since we were going from a two topper table to a four topper table. The only one I couldn't change was surprisingly enough Whispering Canyon (still can't get it).

FYI- I called two days ago and was able switch Tempanyaki for lunch and Chefs de France for dinner. Afterwards I asked the CM to please reverify all my ADRs (since we do alot of TS). We found that the CM that changed our ADRS from two people to four people in June had neglected to cancel all of our old ADRs. I am one of the ones who believe it is wrong to double book restaraunts and would never intentionally do it. I felt so bad thinking that I had taken up those tables for the last two months, when someone might have needed them, that I immediately posted here on the Dis what they were and when they were available. So hopefully someone will be able to get them now.

As far as showing up with fewer people, we did it last Sept. My ex decided he wanted to try Biergarten and we were able to get a last minute ADR, so while we went there my son and D-I-L kept our original ADR at Planet Hollywood. They didn't have a problem. There may be a problem adding people though. At Le Cellier there was like a 45 minute wait with ADRs and all walk ups were being turned away. A family of four tried to add three more people to their ADR when they checked in and were told no. The funny thing is the original family of four stayed, while the family of three left.

One day while we were there in June, we had ADR'S for Chef Mickey's for 5, we wound up going with just DH and I. We didn't know that was going to happen till right before we were suppose to leave for dinner. Our Grandson got a very upset stomach, so DS and DIL of course didn't want to go at that point. We went anyway so the ressie wouldn't be totally lost and told them that the other 3 couldn't make it. They said, no problem, and seated us as usual. We were glad it turned out okay.

Well. I am going to need a new reservation for every meal we had planned. Luckily I was able to change our Crystal Palace reservation to 10 minutes later for 4, but Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's, and Sci-Fi Dine-In are all booked.
