I have enough airmiles to get my family 5 day base tickets, but not enough for the inclusive tickets(which i assume would be hoppers) Can i pay extra at the park to get the hopper added. Have you done this? Would they just charge the hopper fee?

You can upgrade the tickets at Guest Services before you enter the parks, or at the hotel if you are staying on site. You just pay the difference.

I upgraded mine last year...no problem. They will charge you whatever the published price is for the hopper option. Right now I believe it is still $45.

Just a tip though.....be sure to use at least one day on the tickets BEFOREyou try and add an upgrade. The reason being that tickets from AM are discounted and if you upgrade them before using them you will have to pay for the upgrade PLUS the difference between the discount and the gate price. Once the ticket has been used guest relations can no longer tell where the ticket came from.

Are these airmiles the blue Airmiles card? I get confused with my points as I have Visa Avion, Aeroplan and the blue Airmiles card that did not cost anything. If so, I will redeem some of mine for tickets also.

As an Airmiles employee.... it's amazing what they don't tell us.

I knew about the possibility of the park hopper upgrade but not that they would charge you extra for the ticket as well.

Out of curiosity how much extra are they charging??

I plan to use my tickets the first day, then if i need to get the hopper i will add that on. The hopper rate would be around $45 pp but not sure what the extra charge for tickets are. so i will use the tickets first before buying upgrade.

Yes....the blue airmiles card.

I have no idea what the extra charge would be. My guess would be that it's not a whole lot. I base that on the discounted prices that undercovertourist sells their passes for. However, if you can save even $10 by using the ticket first it's worth it to me. The money is better off in my pocket and if you have a family of, say 4, that's $40.....that's that cost of a meal.

:teacher: Actually, the tickets from AM are NOT discounted....I specifically asked what they were worth when we went to Guest Services last year and she quoted me the same price as if we had bought them there, therefore, there's no need to use a day before upgrading....

I'm curious to know what the turn around for getting tickets from Airmiles would be. How long did it take to get them? Can you pay extra to have them overnighted? We're going on Wednesday, and I forgot about this option!

It takes us awhile to accumulate enough AM's to redeem for a 7 day basic ticket because we don't spend alot. But we seem to accumulate the most with our BMO banking plan. We manage to earn about 1 ticket per year. So its different for everyone and depends on their spending habits.

As for having your ticket overnighted, I've never done that and I'm not sure if it could be done....why not give them a call 1-888-AIR-MILES and ask them.

I just tried to call them...closed on weekends. :(

I have been collecting them for about 10 years, so have enough, just not enough time to get them.

We just upgraded a ticket 2 weeks ago. I got a 5 day no exp childrens (no hopping) and upgraded it to a 10 day park hopper adult, and it cost $96 AM. Based on pre-purchasing ticket prices, it came to exactly what I thought it would.

1-2 weeks by standard mail

Courier option available for $20 + GST (so $21) gets in there within 5 buisness days.

Oh and we are open Saturdays just not Sundays.

GOod news about the no discounting thing... had me worried there for a few. Seeing as me and me wife plan on using our airmiles for passes then adding the park hopper down there.

Thanks E-Rock!

Looks like I'm SOL, no worries, I'll just keep collecting and use them on another trip. I see many more in our future! ;)

Well...there's another example of conflicting info from the folks at WDW. As, I WAS told they were discounted passes by the lovely CM's at guest relations.

It may be as simple as the pre-purchase discount. :confused3 I tend to think that any organization that purchases a very large quantity of passes is going to get a break on them.

I upgraded the AM tickets at CR at ASMovies and did not have to pay any additional money besides the days I was adding.
