Hi All,

My husband and I are making a quick trip to California to visit a family friend who is sick with cancer. We're staying three days at the Red Lion Anaheim Resort, but only one day at the park. We'll be driving to LA one day and are still debating on how to spend the other day. Just wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel? How was your experience? We're using credit card points so the stay is "free" but I'm hoping it's not too far from the park. We walked from Stovall's Inn a couple of years ago would you say this is further or about the same? Since we're only doing one day at the park, we'll go open to close, can you recommend a place for a quick yet hearty breakfast nearby before the park opens?

Possibly not quick, but there is an IHOP right next door. You can probably order ahead for pickup and eat in room if that is speedier. The toy story parking lot is also right next door (5 min walk) where you can hitch a ride on the shuttle.

Red Lion is very solid.

Breakfast...

- Panera Bread (just opened)
- IHOP / Dennys
- Mickey Ds
- Starbucks in DTD if in a hurry
- Park Places do offer breakfast

Are people allowed to use the toy story parking lot shuttles if they haven't parked there? What do they do?

It's south of Katella, but possibly a little closer to get to the gate from the Harbor side than the DTD side. The walk is probably about even. You could walk south to Toy Story, but by the time you walk into the lot to the buses it's probably about half the distance you'd cover by just walking to the park. I've walked from the parks to TS and it's not that far. I can't say I'd want to do it multiple days in a row, but for just a single park day it's not that bad.

Red lion is 15-20 minute walk. My husband and I stayed there before kids and we walk fast. Took us 15 minutes to the gate. Walk at the end of the day felt longer. The tram would be worth it at the end of the day. Waiting at that signal light felt like a long time. Would stay there again... Especially if it was free!

Thanks for the suggestion, I think we'll do this on day 2 when we're not in a rush to get to the parks.

Thanks for the feedback, that's good to hear. I think we'll survive the walk for one day.

This is very helpful, thanks! Maybe we'll do Mickey Ds on park day as I assume that will be quick and easy.

Stayed there a few years ago. Very nice hotel. Parking I believe is $15/nt. We walked 5 mins or so to the Toy Story lot and road the buses to main gate free. Worked great!

How do you take these buses back to Red Lion?
You catch it on the other side of the loop where they drop you off (far right if you are leaving bag check towards harbor), and they return to the same place they picked you up, so you just walk back from the parking lot to the hotel.
