I recently got back from a trip and discovered that the pictures I took in the middle of my trip are missing on my SDHC card. I have the pics from the beginning and the end but that is it. Any ideas how I can look for and recover the missing pictures? TIA. :goodvibes

This won't really be of any help, but a year ago I accidentally deleted my pictures. There was a program I bought online for $35. I can't remember the name of the program, but it worked and I got all my pictures back! I'm sure if you google search you could find a similar program. None of the free programs worked (they left watermarks on the pictures or only gave you very, very small pictures). Good luck!

Can you see them on the camera? Could you try putting it in one of the machines at the drug store or using another computer?

You could try asking this question on the Photography section of the DisBoard. Someone there will probably be able to help you.

Thanks. No, I am not able to see them on the camera, but I know that I took them because during the trip I was able to see them on the camera.

They are most likely gone. Maybe the card was removed while the camera was on or something else interfered with the completion of the file on your card. Or could someone have been playing with the camera and took them off without your knowledge?

Is it a secure digital memory card?? If so, there is a little lock on the side of the physical card. You can lock the card and no files can be erased without unlocking it. It's a great little feature, especially if you have younger kids who like to play with mom and dad's camera.

Don't remember what kind of card I had, but another DISer gave me this link and I was able to retrieve most of my pictures. Hope it works for you too!

DELETED:

Wasn't in German when I used it. Let me look into it further before you try anything.

Could those pictures actually be on the camera's memory (usually holds a few photos) rather than the SD card?

Could you please advise the link. My pictures of my son's First Communion were deleted and I hope I can get them back....thanks

No way to know for sure if they can be recovered, but it is possible.
When pictures are deleted from a memory card, they aren't always really deleted. The space that they take up is just marked as free space that can be used for new pictures.

I can't remember which software I used, but there is free image recovery software available that will recover your pictures if they are recoverable.

Try searching google for things like "photo recovery software".

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I am going to try these when I get home from work today.

you might also look into data recovery services.

many of them specalize in recovering "deleted" files. Usually they use specalized software that searches for files using hexadecimal "headders" and can pull up anything deleted, as long as it was not overwritten.

since they work mostly with large hard drives, a memory card wouldn't take all that long.
