The Timeshare Store says they cannot rent my points for me, because they do not understand US withholding tax regulations. (They are wrong - this is in fact the focus of my practice/career, so I *know* they are wrong).

Can anyone recommend other DVC rental/broker agencies?

AFAIK, the only broker in Canada is David's. No matter which broker you choose, be sure you understand their terms and conditions. As you probably know, they vary and most have been recently updated to account for pandemics, resort closures and force majeure.

JMHO, but you might be belter off just using the DISboards Rent/Trade Board and rent them yourself. If you decide to do that, be sure to read the pinned threads at the top of the forum before you post there. Good luck!

I would not recommend David's. The way they handled closures is just offensive to both the owners and the renters.

I do not have to use a Canadian broker. I am a documented US citizen and can, therefor, use a US broker.

Just read David's new contract with owners carefully if anyone wants to use them. There was one excerpt posted in the mega thread that mentioned the owners can be responsible for difference in cost to reaccommodate renters if DVC is unavailable for any reason. To me, you can lose money out of pocket on top of your points if that were to happen, however remote the possibility may be.

Then I don't understand why the TTS store is bringing up tax withholding as an issue. Why are you different from any other client for whom they arrange rentals and issue 1099s?

FWIW, most of David's clients are US citizens, but AFAIK, they don't issue 1099s and since they are not a US Company, they don't have to do so.

You should consider renting them on the rent/trade board here. I tried using a broker earlier this year and I never heard anything back from them. I eventually just decided to rent them on the rent/trade board here. It took a little work for a few days to rent them but I had all my points rented in about 3 days or so on the forum here.
