Recommendations on the following non park items

Hi everyone,

We are heading to Kidani Village for the first time in less than 7 weeks and we are going to be there for 9 days which is awesome!!

We are going to have a lot of down time so we are thinking of other things to do and wanted to get some feedback from all of you.

My wife will definitely booking her spa services which is well deserved! I am looking at doing something on my own for a few hours one day and wanted to see if anyone has experienced the "Epcot Segway Tour" or the "Richard Petty Driving Experience"? I know they are both totall different.

We have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. Does anyone have any feedback on any of the Pirate cruises for our 4 year old? It might be something we can do with him or just him and I.

Lastly, has anyone done Disney Quest?

Isn't there some kind of good deal for the Richard Petty experience for AP holders right now? Oh man..where did I read that? Was it FREE? Maybe I dreamt it! update below!

Anyway...I haven't tried that or the Segway, but they both look amazing!! The Spa sounds like a wonderful idea!

My son wouldn't do the pirate cruise at 5 because he'd be alone..meaning without us. It's just for kids and he was scared to try it.

We haven't been to DisneyQuest yet but I think it's a good time for us to try it. The kids love video games and seem old enough to get their $$$ worth out of it!

So parents cannot go on the cruise?

I was not aware of that and if that's the case I would not be comfortable at all doing that.

We enjoyed just being at the resort this last trip...our first to Kidani. I recommend the spa services at SSR. Go first thing in the morning and enjoy the whirlpool and sauna before your treatments. We took a t taxi and got there in plenty of time to do this . Have never done the spa at GF. Keys to the Kingdom Tour is very fun and informative at MK. DH enjoys a day to himself for picture taking at AK. I got up one morning at Kidani around 5 a.m. got dressed and went down to the fire pit area just to listen to the early morning sounds and watch the sun come up. Then I had a wonderful hour long conversation with Meagan, one of the CM from South Africa...I was the only one down there and it kept her occupied, too.

You can go to Community Hall and make a button for $1, that looked fun and there were all kinds of board and computer games for the kids. We spent a lot of time looking at the artifacts and just enjoying the resort itself.

Have a great trip...ours was fubulous!!

The first year we got AP's we got the Premium ones with the water parks & DQ on them. We went to DQ one afternoon for several hours (missed the heat of the day & afternoon storms). It was OK...but personally I was starting to feel claustrophobic and I wanted to see daylight again after awhile. We were probably in there for about 5 hours trying to get thru a lot of it. The lines are slow 'cuz a lot of of the stuff is virtual and can only be done by 1 person at a time. Very little of what we did was done in a group. It was neat, but I am not in a rush to go again. It would be a good place on a cold or rainy day tho.

Disney Quest has very little for your children to do. It's geared toward teens, older pre-teens and adults. No strollers are permitted inside DQ.

You could spend some time at DTD walking through the stores and to the various areas.

You might want to rent a boat to drive out on Bay Lake. That is something everyone might enjoy.

I have not done myself but a good friend did with his 12 year old. They raved about it. They also did the scuba encounter in the aquarium in the living seas.

I think it would be pretty awesome to be in the park prior to it opening and getting to just cruise around. One day...

We did the Epcot Segway tour a couple of years ago and it was Excellent......It was approx. 2 hrs long, 1hr of training followed by a little over an 1hr of Epcot touring. You will be following a cast member during this tour. I would assume this is still the case...........A LOT OF FUN!!

we did 3 "experiences" in oct:
he segway tour at epcot is excellent

keys to the kingdom was very good
i found dolphins in depth just okay. it was mostly talk about ecology, sea life, and a very brief interaction with the dolphins (we spent much more time suiting up, than actually with the dolphins)

a few years ago, dh did a richard petty drive, the one where he did the actual driving. he still talks about it
