Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a nice offsite hotel with good bus service to Disney parks. This is for mid June so unfortunately things are booking up. I'm looking in the up to $150 price range.

Thanks!

offsite doesn't have good bus service.

most only go once or twice each morning and evening.

morning is for going to the parks, evening is for leaving.

with that amount of money - I would go for something close in Kissimmee or LBV and use the rest for a car rental.

I would think you could easily get a value resort at WDW for that amount of money.

We stayed at the Renaissance opposite Sea World last October and their shuttle service was excellent - I would highly recommend it. We even managed to get shuttles to/from DTD up to midnight :thumbsup2

There were a choice of 3 or 4 times going in the morning and again in the afternoon/evening. By far and away the best shuttle service we have ever seen in an offsite hotel :)

Thanks for your help. It's kind of a weird situation. Dh is attending a class in Orlando for the first part of our vacation and it's near the airport. Trying to figure out the best way for him to go to his class and us (me and young kids, 6 and 10) to the parks. I was thinking of splitting a stay between POR and an offsite hotel but I may just have him drive down there every day. So off to the transportation board for best route to airport!

I'll check some of those hotels though. It would be easy if we had a rental car so DH and I both had something to drive but probably won't do that.

Thanks!

You're not going to find any place that offers a free shuttle to a class near the airport and free shuttles to WDW. I assume you want to avoid having to rent two cars? You might find a hotel near the class location that will shuttle your husband, many airport hotels will offer a free shuttle to any location within a few miles of the hotel, but then you'll have to drive to WDW with two young kids.

I'd book an on-site hotel, rent a car and let your DH drive himself to his class every day. Does your DH know anyone else taking the class? Are they also bringing family members? Could he car pool?

Yes, I was trying to avoid having two cars. Dh will have one and it sounds like if offsite I'd need to rent another. I guess we'll go with a moderate, kids and I will take the Disney bus and Dh will drive to his class. I have to keep costs at certain amounts for his expense account, an extra car would be on us. There isn't anyone else we know taking the same class. DH is a software engineer, taking a ASP 2.0 class.

I thought about staying near the airport and as you said, have DH take a shuttle to his class, we'd take the car. There are some nice suite hotels around the airport but I didn't want to have to drive half an hour back down there after the parks at night!

Thanks for you help :)

If you would consider staying offsite at a condo/townhouse, I think you might be able to get your lodging and an extra car for that $150 price point. The moderates at WDW will be around $175 unless you have an AP.

If I recall correctly, George had a last minute cancellation for a 3 bedroom townhouse in Windsor Hills in June. Windsor Hills is a lovely resort that would give you way more space than a Disney moderate for less money. The townhomes come with a private splash pool, along with the resort pool complex. You can save money by fixing breakfast at home before you head to the parks. Here's his website: http://www.5mins2disney.com/

Good luck! I'm sure you'll find a place to stay.

you really might consider the Renaissance then - it is a Marriott's business hotel like wilma-bride suggested.

this place did have transportation to the airport as well.

now it is across the street from SW - so I would include (if you can) SW.

Thanks, you're so helpful :) I do appreciate it.

I think we might try the Buena Vista Palace during the week, on DH's expense account, then move to POR, we've got a AAA discount there. I've been doing research on this most of today. Buena Vista Palace seems to have improved lately from the reviews I've read and I don't mind if some common areas are still under construction. We can walk across the street to downtown Disney and catch buses there if we want, although the BVP has the shuttle for the hotels in that area. DH will drive to his class. The BVP has Disney View rooms in our price range and a summer special that gives a $300 resort credit for 6 nights - works for me! I like this idea cause it's literally as close as I can get to Disney property for an under $150/night price.

We're in the process of buying a VWL resale, crossing our fingers it'll pass ROFR, so won't be staying offsite very often. Guess I'll give a DTD hotel a try this time :)

I can't wait to go, about 2 1/2 weeks! Yipee!
