We have the table service dining plan for four. We have two girls... 6 (basically 7) and 4 1/2 at time of travel. Which character meals should we do? Is Cinderella's royal table worth two from the dining plan? What about the other meals? All recommendations are appreciated!

Why don't you do Akershus in Epcot for your princess meal instead? It's only 1TS credit and includes a photo.

Is this your first trip?
I think your girls are the perfect age to do the castle. For us, CRT is a must do. To justify the 2TS credit it takes, we like to do the dinner. We have done Akershus, and while the character interaction is also great, we just do not like the food offered at lunch and dinner.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! The look on my DD 2 face when she saw Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Ariel was so worth 2TS credits!!!

I am not sure how many nights you are staying or have the place for…but I would check these places out. I did one for each park with some extras:

MK: CRT – I agree with all PPs, this would be an amazing experience for the girls and worth the 2 TS Credits

EP: Coral Reef – The girls will love seeing the fish and feeling like you are under water eating

HS: 50’s Prime Time Café or Hollywood and Vine: Check out the reviews on All Ears.net. Some say that 50’s isn’t worth the credit, but I do because of the entertainment.

AK: Boma at AKL. It is an amazing experience just seeing the lodge, the animals and checking out different flavors 

That is a total of 6 TS Credits. I could go on for hours of where you could eat. But these are some great choices.

Have fun!!!

We thought CRT was totally worth it. My DD 5 loved it and we did too. It was so special. The Crystal Palace was lots of fun too. We all also enjoyed the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Have a great trip!!

My family has been to WDW twice (2007 and 2010) and both times we've had the Dining Plan.

Our first trip we did 3 character meals:

dinner at Chef Mickey's (Mickey and friends)
breakfast at Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends)
lunch at Akershus (Princesses)

On our 2nd trip, the only character meal we did was breakfast at Crystal Palace. This is one I would definitely book any time we visit WDW in the future! We love Pooh and the gang! pooh::eeyore::tigger:

Not having been to CRT, I can't offer any advice on it. But I can say lunch with the Princesses at Akershus was great. Well, the experience was. The food? Not so much. My recommendation would be to have breakfast there, unless you like Norwegian food!

You specifically asked about character meals, but I'd also recommend considering Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge. The food was great and the kids had a blast!

I think they are the perfect age to do CRT. We prefer the breakfast and pay for it out of pocket even though we have the DDP.

Other character meals we have enjoyed are Garden Grill at Epcot, Ohana for breakfast with Stitch and Lilo, Crystal Palace, and WCC (not a character but lots of fun)

We are going to try 1900 Park Fare this time for dinner to see Cinderella's step-sisters and step-mother. The interaction is supposed to be great.

Here are my suggestions:

MK:
- CRT (2 TS but soo worth it for your girls)

Epcot:
- Biergarten is alot of fun for the whole family! (entertainment, great buffet, and dancing! :))
- Coral Reef (who doesn't wanna eat under the sea?? :confused3:

DHS:
- 50's Prime Time Cafe (this place is a hoot and a half and the food is delish! :cloud9:)
- Sci-Fi Dine-In (like an old drive in movie, with yummy milkshakes and burgers!)

Animal Kingdom:
- Donald's Safari breakfast at Tusker House (one of the best character meals...gives you that special time with the classics like Mickey, Donald & Daisy too!)

Resorts:
- Ohana at the Polynesian is right on the monorail and is so much fun for the kids! Plus the food is divine.
- 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian (dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, the stepmother & stepsisters is fantastic and the food is wonderful)
- Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary is always a classic option :thumbsup2
- Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge is so fun and crazy! The food is YUM! :)

Happy planning! :yay:

Thanks for posting this, exactly what I was wondering. I really WANT to go to CRT next time we go, but I just don't know if I can justify the 2 credits/price. What meal is the best at CRT? We aren't picky about having a certain meal with characters, so when is the food the best?

we always did early dinner at CRT... to justify the cost... but I

DEFINITELY recommend it ! All little kids and big kids want to eat in the Castle !

so ...

MK: CRT
Epcot: depending on kids.... we always did Teppan edo and Le Cellier is a new fav
DHS: I recommend F! dining pkg which includes H&V and MM. (and HBD which I didnt' care for)

AK: I haven't experienced as much but we LOVED Y&Y TS...
Have a magical visit !

Mary

There is nothing that is more special at MK than having lunch or dinner in the castle! Even as an adult I love the feeling that I get when I walk up the stairs into the dining room, but more so, the looks on my kids's faces (even my son's) as the Princesses come around to our table for autographs and pictures. The whole park is centered around Cinderella's Castle...you really need to not worry about the 2 credits and do it. It is well worth it!

Thanks to all who have replyed! I love hearing all the opinions. We will have 7 table service meals.

We loved the Tusker House character breakfast in AK and are doing it again on our upcoming trip. It was great to see Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Goofy (and I think Pluto???) in their safari gear. We enjoyed the food and the "entertainment" - there was a cute conga line with Mickey and all the kids joining in.

Bonus - it's close to the Safari entrance ride so you can grab FPs before going in. Also there's a very cool face painting stand right nearby. My dd was a tigress for the rest of the day and she loved it.
