Hi Everyone,

Which villas in what area would you reccommend please?

We would like to be near to the action but dont want to compromise on the quality of the villa - any suggestions

The ones we have looked at so far are:-

Indian Creek

Emerald Isle

Chatham Park

Formosa Gardens

Any advice on the above or additional areas would be welcomed.

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen big shout for Chatham Park  :yay:  really close to Disney just ten min and even closer to the attraction packed 192

We have'nt stayed to near but have enjoyed the Davenport lakes area & Clermont area also :thumbsup2

Hi Karen,

I have driven round many of the villa developments.

For many reasons we prefer a base around the Formosa Gardens Boulevard area.
Close to Disney, I4 for Universal, restaurants and a Publix supermarket nearby.

It's also a comfort to our son to stay in familiar surroundings, he doesn't like change.

Indian Creek we have stayed at a few times and like it there, in August we are staying next door at Windsor Palms which is very nice. Emerald Island is also well worth considering.
All three are in the FG area, naturally Formosa Gardens community is there too, haven't stayed here but homes look appealing. To be honest if you find the right home for you any of the developments around FG are worth staying at.

We stayed at Chatham Park many years ago, it's location is still in Kissimmee but close to Poinciana Boulevard area. Homes are nice but older, and personally I always try and find a newer property.

Many of the newer communities are down US27, some can be quite southerly of the attractions so it's worth bearing that in mind.

Some comunities such as Terre Verde, Emerald Island and Windsor Palms have communal facilities such as a pool, clubhouse etc so you could perhaps bear that in mind too.

Do you have a map of the villas development locations? I can add one , plus many links to villas if you would like me to.

A big thumbs up:thumbsup2 for Windsor Hills.

Brilliant location just off Old Lake Wilson Road. 1 minute drive to the 192 and 5 mins via the Sherberth Road shortcut to Disney. Animal Kingdom is the closest park. MK would be approx 15 mins drive.

We loved Windsor Hills and would go back there again.

Although the homes may be older on Chatham park they are still of a high standard and you also get a good sense of community as there are many homes that our owned by Floridians themselves even a walk to the community playground you will be welcomed by the residents

Thanks for the info - the links would be great, if you could put them on for me. Out of all of the ones you have stayed at, which did YOU prefer.
Thanks again
Karen

Found the lake davenport area to far to drive if u head up 2 wards I drive , it can take up to a our on a good run if the 192 is clear, windsor palms is a lovely place very quiet, and its gated and its manned 24hrs, last year i paid £900 pounds for 4 bedroom villa at windosr palms, where as this year we have found the of villa's in Windwood bay just off the I4 5 bedroom south facing pool xtra large pool area, xbox 360, 2 50 inch tv, pool table, free calls home and free use of a PC, I sound like a villa letting agent lol, all for £899

web site i found this place on http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk:banana:

We have only stayed at the Emerald Island resort it was great, really close to Disney only 12 mins to MK :)

Exactly the same from me.
However, Windsor Hills is the ONLY villa "community" I have stayed in so couldn't to compare it to any others - unlike other members of the board who have more knowledge than me.
It is so close to Disney, as I did all the driving I felt I could drive onto Disney property via Sherberth road with my eyes shut!
Good luck with your choice.

We are also staying at windsor palms in August and have not stayed at this resort before. Great to hear good reports as my daughter also does not like change at all and can take time to settle on holiday in strange surroundings.

karen i am sure that wherever you stay you will have a brilliant time. Have you been to Disney before?

we went in 1994 and 1995 so we will see BIG changes. The children have never been before and are really excited. :cool1:

Windsor Palms is very nice indeed and we are looking forward to staying there, they have a community pool, clubhouse and a cinema there.

Hi Ali,

I first went about 20 years ago, and stayed at one of the Sheraton hotels, and then we went with the family in 2006 and stopped in a villa - we loved it !! but it was definately too far out at the time(cant even remember where it was, but it used to take us a good 40 mins to get to WDW!!!) It was part of a package deal at the time, so we didnt know where it was until we arrived in Orlando.

Would love to try and stay onsite at some point, but i think it would be too claustraphobic in one room, and we do love coming back to our own pool after a hectic day at the parks.

I am doing a D.I.Y this time, but location is everything i think this time. I am so excited, and cant wait to get things moving (not going until July 2009) and now our friends have announced they'd quite like to go too.

plan...plan...plan

It's so nice when people give you good advice and opinions on the boards.

Hi,

We stayed at Formosa Gdns with family in a lovely villa. First time in a villa. Within minutes we were on the right road to Disney. After 2 trips we knew the route well.

Very close to the parks and highly recommended.

Try http://lake-berkley-resort.co.uk

We are staying there this year and it looks really good. A gated community with all the mod cons. It is just off the 192 near Medieval Times and Wal-Mart. It was recommended to us by others who had stayed there and it looks and sounds great. :flower3:
