Recommendations for a non-Disney hotel/resort for anniversary?

It will be DH and I's 10th anniversary this December and we've played with the idea of a cruise. However, we are both teachers and it's hard to find a cruise that leaves during our vacation time without going into Christmas. I've though about doing a nice resort in Orlando, but DH does NOT want to do Disney (I have to drag him to Disney for our family vacations). Any ideas on something nice, with good pool, relaxing, but not "boring"?

I'd stay at the Ritz Carlton, and do one of their guided eco-tour trips.

Orange Lake Has Places To Dine...you Can See The Fireworks There But I Cant Remember The Building #'s...

Silver Lake Has Some In Walking Distance... Quieter Place...you Can See The Fireworks... From The 4th Floor Of Building 900...

But Listen To Other People As Well Because You Can Get A Few Really Good Choices And Make Your Decision That Way...

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress for our 15th anniversary. It was very nice and had lots of things to do. We liked the location.

We got a great rate with Hotwire.

gaylord - it is close enough for you to see the fireworks - but definitely NOT on disney property - so your husband might be fine

both ritz-carlton and jw marriott are in orlando = closer to SW than WDW.

Hyatt Grand Cypress is very close to WDW - in the same area as DD.

Gaylord Palms gets my vote too. In December they have a really cool ICE display. This is besides the amazing hotel itself.

I agree Gaylord Palms, we stayed there for our December anniversary a few years ago. I don't know why we prefer property resorts, because this place was nicer than most deluxes on property. We went to Ice, and the the resort was decorated for Christmas. We arrived very late, and it was very romantic to walk around the place at that time.
