Recommendations for a budget hotel/motel near Disney

I'm interested in recommendations for an inexpensive hotel/motel within about 10 miles of Disney. I've seen a ton of them on Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee in the past, but am not sure which (if any) may be worth staying at with my children.

I recently lost my job, so cheaper is better as far as a place to stay- it's for my children (4 and 9) and I. My son and I completed the Give a Day program, and are Florida residents, so it's $20 to upgrade our tickets to the 4 day pass. With that in mind, I'm having a hard time passing up the trip with that ticket cost. However, we would be in the motel room just to shower and sleep, so I'm thinking that this is an area in which I can cut back a bit.

I would appreciate any recommendations for hotels/motels to stay at (or ones to stay away from). Thanks!

I would suggest using priceline.com or hotwire.com to get your room. You will get a lot more for your money and a much nicer place.

Do research on using those services at betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com.

Travelzoo.com also runs some good specials for Orlando.

What do you want to spend? Sheraton Vistana Village has a deal on Skyauction for the week in a one bedroom condo for 469 for the week. This is gated and for 7 days I do not know if you will find cheaper in a gated resort with fantastic amenities. It comes to 67 per night. There is a 20.00 processing fee but when you add it on it comes to approx 70 per night. The key is they have security and are gated. I hate to stay in the cheaper ones for 35 per night because I have had some bad experiences.

Check out another site I just found TripDucky.com. Very simililar to the others ones mentioned for researching Priceline. They have a couple of features the others don't such as video tutorials on how to do your research as well as being able to generate a rebid chart for you. Takes a lot of the mystery out of the whole rebid process.

Travelzoo.com just posted a special for the Hampton Inn near Universal studios. Its not that far from Disney but I am not sure how far it is really but it has to be closer than 10 miles. They are offering $39/nite for a King size suite and $49/nite for a 2-Queenbed suite. If all you need it for is just to shower and sleep, its a better hotel than a motel in orlando. You can also try bookit.com for some good deals. I also found deals on booking.com, and 1800hotels.com Good luck. And I do believe that every dollar saved is an extra dollar for Vacation/Disney. I just booked the Best Western Lakeside for $24 a night through Hotwire. It doesn't look to be fancy, but it gets good reviews. We just needed something basic that would fit the budget.
